Solved: Bluetooth streaming w/o BTA1500 for those with Dension 500
Solved: Bluetooth streaming w/o BTA1500 for those with Dension 500
So for the longest time I have been wanting the ability to stream music from my phone in the cabin to my speakers, but haven't been able to get my hands on a BTA1500, which is now discontinued by Dension as they released a whole new Ice system with bluetooth built in. I didn't care about using the speakers for calling, just wanted to stream music. So with a lot of research, I managed to pull it off, and the grand total cost was about $35. It's so simple I feel stupid at not having thought of it before.
Items you need:
Belkin Bluetooth Music Receiver: Model # F8Z492ttP. Available on Amazon for $25 bucks
Digikey USB power cable Part #: 839-1027-ND : Available from their website for $5.67 before shipping

Installation is simple:
1) Connect the power cables
2) Connect audio out cables (My dension uses Stereo jacks instead of the 3.5mm headphone in, but both types of plugs come with the Belkin kit.
3) Pair phone once.
4) Done

The only thing that's a minor nuisance is the fact that once your phone goes out of range or the car turns off, the BT unit doesn't auto-reconnect. You will have to manually go into your phone's BT settings and reconnect it. But honestly, that takes like 5 seconds. And I finally am able to stream music from my phone to my car. Easiest mod I have ever done lol.

With the Dension, you would just go to CD6, then Track 1, and hit fast forward for a few seconds to switch the input to the Aux In. After that you can use the controls on your phone to select tracks and such.
