ABS/PSM light staying on, car not making boost or the CEL with the MAF code.

The MAF went out on my stock 2001 with stock paper air filter at about 25000 miles. Symptoms were that it ran so lean over 3500 RPM it started missing and threw a engine check light. If I drove it easy below 3500 it ran fine, but the fuel trim got up over 17% when datalogged. The ODBII code was for missing on various cylinders on both banks.

EBAKER - can you give me a quick tutor on what to look for on my data logger re: FUEL TRIM.

Thanks

I've replaced my MAF and am having an O2 sensor replaced next week. P0130 - Bank 1 Sensor 1. Car's running like ****. I can hear the boost dumping from very low load levels, yet boost gauge seems to reflect no issue. Strange. Power is definately down. I had the EVO airbox & FVD plenum installed at same time. I'm making no assumptions as to the cause, only looking for a fix. I'm hoping all the extra air flow will be happy to see the addition of the fuel system upgrades in the 700 kit.

I am no ODB expert. My ODB reader reads out fuel trim on right and left banks. It should stay close to 0% most of the time. The way I understand it, fuel trim is the minor mixture (A/F ratio) adjustments made based on the O2 sensor readings. It's the difference between what the computer map says the mixture should be and what the O2 sensor says the mixture actually is. The computer map is "trimmed" to get a better A/F ratio.

In all real fairness there are much more stock 996tt's than there are ones with EVO intakes. This poll doesn't reflect a true count. What we need to know is the ratios. This poll is otherwise meaningless.

Techart offers a modified MAF for their higher HP packages. Unfortunately, Techart will not sell it alone.

Sportec offers an "air flow meter in carbon fiberbox" on certain of their higher HP packages. I am currently trying to gather information regarding the Sportec product. Sportec in Europe did not respond to my initial inquiry. I sent them a follow-up e-mail and I have also inquired of their US distributor.

so is it recommended to install the EVO intake and the newer version MAF? how much are these MAF's each? I want to install the EVO intake but I want to make sure I minimize the chances of having the car land in the shop.

Does the GIAC programming need to be updated to work correctly with the NEW MAF?

I haven't done one but would suspect it does. Each maf for each type of car meaning turbo verses non turbo have a different voltage range. It is more than likely that range is different for the new MAF hence the dealer uploading the new software.

would GIAC even have software or custom tune the software for a new MAF not specific to the turbo? if a new MAF means losing my GIAC programming no upgraded MAF for me
