How bad is it for the car to bounce off the rev limiter?

Tony, thanks for your response, however I now need to understand why you would get voltage spikes because you hit the rev limiter???? I understand how a MAF can fail (It is always because of voltage spikes). These spikes can be the result of turbulent air flowing through the MAF (Like those created by the V-flow system) and I suppose there may be other sources of spikes...the electronics on these cars is complicated to say the least.

I got a type 2 a while back and I know it wasn't because of the accidental down shift. Limiter was raised when tuned and I hit it in first soon after, I think that registered as a type 2. Limiter comes really fast in first.
