I run 265s on my 9.5" 18s with no rub.

If any of you have used wider than 245s and have good feed back please comment.

I'm running champion RG19s 11.5" rears with a 15mm spacer (44ET -15 = 29ET) and 8" fronts (I can run these with a 7 or 15mm spacer but it will rub a little at 50% lock which really doesn't happen during normal driving, just parking lot speeds).

I like to run a very "tucked" look and fill the fenders as much as possible, IMO the 305/30s are wider than 315/25s. My rear fenders are rolled.

I have 8.5 and 11.5 ... I'm at the edge of getting 305 30 19s ... will probably get them since I cant get any 315's ... I just missed out on Tirerack.

305/30's on 11.5's won't rub on ROW suspension though?

I'm assuming you have champion wheels? ET 44 is standard for our cars. 305s should fit with any suspension. ROW just starts lower. The wheels don't go further up into the car. They just have less travel and more spring to control the movement.

I run mine with 15mm spacers and rolled fenders for the "tucked" look.

You mentioned ride quality and handling improved. Can you elaborate on that a bit (on the ride quality side).

I had two fears of switching to 19's which was that the thin sidewall would really make the car feel worse in all circumstances, but if the slightly larger sidewall of the 305's fix that, then we're good right?

On a scale from 1-10 in comfort, where would you rate Stock vs 315 vs 305 (not to totally geek this up )

I would say these feel a LOT more like the 18s. They have the same sidewall height as the factory 18s do. So the comfort and at the limit feedback is greatly improved simply because of this.

This is like having your cake and eating it too plus these tire grip like a **** compared to the 315/25 Contis I was running.

Is there any form of rub?

Is it lowered? I'm contemplating a 235 35 19 for the fronts to go with the 305 30 19's ... since I have an 8.5" for the fronts ....

Question

You are one month in now, still no rubbing on the fronts?

I went with my new favorite tire (I run them on my 18s as well), the Hankook RS3. This tire isn't an "R" comp tire but IMO it's about as close as you can get. They are fantastic performers and have very good tread life for this category of tire. They are sticky enough that there is noticeable debris kick up as dirt sticks to the soft compound. The new rear tires are noticeably wider than the 315s they replaced. BTW, Hankook DOES have an actual R compound tire very similar to the R888 if that's your taste.

The front diameter is very very close to the rears and the new-found sidewall which is just slightly taller makes for a taller gear ratio which is good at my HP/TQ levels and gives a lot of the subtle ride plushness and feedback which was missing in the 25 series sidewall.

Not a hint of understeer with the camber I run upfront and tighter setting on the rear H&R bar which in concert have always resulted in better turn-in and eliminated understeer in my turbo.

No rub either under any condition so far on my car lowered on PSSS9s. I'm liking the choice so far!

UPDATE: After a few of driving, Wow! I'm glad I made the switch! The tires are getting a bit more broken in. These tires really put the power down much better. 1st and 2nd used to be pretty much useless since the car would just spin the tires. Now it grips and goes. You can really use the gears without just spinning and hitting the rev limiter.

The slightly fatter sidewalls have improved both ride and grip in the corners. This is obviously partially a result of the significantly softer and stickier RS3 compound.

Hope this helps if you're thinking of making the switch.

Just put my tires on. Are you guys cutting it this close? I think I may need to roll my rear fenders.

sinKing, where do you have the least clearance? With the 305s in the rear or the 225/40 in the front? Any rubbing after you went for a ride?

My fronts seem totally fine. I don't think there was any rubbing in the rear but it is so close that I think I am going to roll my fenders a little. I also only took it through the neighborhood since I am waiting for a new radiator to arrive.
