B&M warranty info...

So how does installing a B&M affect the factory Porsche warranty? I am thinking of doing one in my car and getting mixed opinions from friends. I just hate the standard 6-speed shifter with it's long throws. The clutch feels so precise and then this damn shifter ruins it. Any ideas?

msindi is infamous around these parts
It depends on your dealer...mine actually installs the B&M and sells it so they stand behind it and they are smart enough to know that it does not affect the internals of your tranny or engine so no point in it affecting your warranty...

Re: B&M warranty info...

I agree with Monsour....how dealers handle mods depend on the dealer. I happen to have a good relationship with my service advisior and manager so I have never had a problem. Also the shop that I do all my work at is VERY close with the dealership and he is good friends with the owner, so if I need somthing, he can just call up and tell them to let it through...
Its always good to have a close relationship with your service department...
Regards,
Evan

While there is a variance between dealers, from a legal point of view, can they refuse service on a warranteed car that has a B&M installed? Aren't they obligated by law to fulfill the warranty requirements since this cannot have any impact on any warranteed components of the car?

P.S. I use Ray Catena in NJ.

The law (magson moris act or somthin) states, that they must warrenty the car unless they can prove the fault was caused by the aftermarket part. Email Stephen at IA he knows all about it, and can send you a whole booklet on it
