Increasing clutch feel?
I'd really like to know of the ways on how to increase the clutch feel for a 996tt. I want it to be a bit heavier, any opinions?
To me, the 997tt clutch feel is perfect. It's a bit heavier than the 996tt with a bit more feel too. |
HI,Remove the clutch pedal booster spring ..It will help..I did it because with the first CM clutch it was like a light switch..
Do a search ,as you will find out more about that simple trick and the others that liked it also..:) |

Before he spends a few grand, why not try the free spring removal? Not every issue needs money thrown at it.

So I imagine that removing that spring eliminates the clutch from springing back?
Also how often are you supposed to change that booster spring? Do you ever have to replace the hydraulic clutch assist either? I just had a PPI and 30k service done and neither of those issues came up, but then again I didn't tell them to check it out either. |
Clutch feel is probably my main complaint with this car. The gripping point is too "vague". I always feel like I need to rev it up a bit on take-off or I run the risk of stalling. Backing the car in my garage (with an incline) is kind of a pain as well. My BMW is so much easier to drive in stop-go traffic.

Sounds like removing that spring is the ticket! If the spring removal doesn't do it for you, I'd definitely look into the GT2 setup from EVOMS. You can piece the kit together yourself cheaper but it can be a pain bird-dogging everything. If you're handy with a wrench, the install is messy and time consuming but not super hard. |

I had the same issue with my car. The lack of feel is ultimately a function of the hydraulically assisted clutch pedal. The helper spring removal may help a bit but since the stock system remains you still wont have much feel. I upgraded to a GT2 clutch slave setup and it helped *a lot*. The engagement point is always the same and you can actually feel when the clutch is engaging.
