Definitely! That exhaust does sound great in sound clips; then again, hard to judge.

You definitely know when you have drone; it's a harmonic kind of booming sound that gives you a headache . The only time I can reproduce drone on my BMW is in the very low rpm (under 2k); not really a problem since I rarely drive at that engine speed anyway.

I have the Speedtech 2.5 X pipe setup w/out CATS and live in

Laguna Hills. If you want to hear it let me know.

I'm contemplating an upgrade but I really have to narrow it down first and then manage to find someone local so I can hear it in person; sound clips just don't do it for me.

yeah, don't have that. i'm a little embarrassed to admit, i don't know what i'm running 100/200 cel etc, beyond it's an fvd sport. it's "relatively" quiet unless ya stomp it. it was on the car when i got it, but i'd be agonizing over which exhaust to get aftermarket, so i understand your wanting to be as sure as you can. the stories of 2.5-3k drone are legion.

My stock exhaust came with drilled holes and it does not drone it is pretty loud @ 2100 rpm but not giving me a headache and nothing is vibrating in the cab. Love it. try that first if you are going to change the EX system anyway.

I have owned a handful of exhausts and heard plenty... probably all of the above mentioned... and Ill tell you that they ALL droned.. some less some more...
the last RUF car I had here was the quietest but it also is just a OEM exhaust with cats cut out etc...
If you want no drone stay stock...

if you have a tip, more drone.. check out BBI's exhaust... sounds great, with outstanding performance!! most noticeable drone will happen at 2200rmps in higher gear, where i never stay! lol

Manual here. Cruising rpm is more like 2800-3000 for me, so no problem there

+1 for speedtech 2.5 xflow. I hated drone as well and went through 5 different exhausts systems before finally getting my speedtech.
It's the best of both worlds. Aggressive when I want it to be and nice and mellow when I don't.
You won't be sorry.

that used ruf exhaust in the other thread looks like it might be a good fit, and low on "drone"? plus when it comes to aftermarket stuff.. ruf/cargraphic/fvd/brombacher et al, i think they probably sprechen sie deutsche better than many others. personally, i like german parts and beer..when possible.

Since you are in OC - come by GMG and we can take you for a ride in a car with one of our World Challenge systems.

I think you will be very pleased with the sound under WOT and the lack of drone at partial throttle.

Just give me a call or shoot me a email.
