Protecting your front bumper - what have you used?

I recently installed and painted an OEM GT2 Front end for my 996tt. Oh my way driving it home from the paint shop (roughly 25 miles) I came home to discover... yeah, that's right... ROCK CHIPS!

Already has two noticeable rock chips.

I am considering doing a clear-bra, but I was hoping someone had some recommendations on which brand / material to use. Perhaps there are other options out there as well?

Thanks!

Xpel ultimate. I have my entire front end covered including headlamps. 7 year parts AND labor warranty plus the clear coat employs special elastomeric polymers that "heal" over time eliminating swirl marks and other fine scratches without having to do anything.

I have used the 3M and Solar Gard films on my cars. I find the 3M has more of an Orange Peel effect after it is installed but not enough to bother me. I am happy so far with both.

Be careful though.. I have heard of non factory paint peeling right off with the product if you ever try to remove it.

Mike0032 is infamous around these parts
Never had a problem with 3M.

I peeled the paint off the hood of a F430 once (non-factory paint) when removing the clear bra. The trick is to heat the film up with a steamer. Comes right off.

I had an opportunity to purchase a speed lingerie bra cheap in the for sale section. I thought I would temporarily use it until I get a clear bra.
I ended up liking the the thing. Works very well, color matched to my car.
Easy on and off and will stay on at 150 plus, no problems.

Just another option

Since it is non-original paint, you might as well plan on having it re-sprayed every few years. It probably costs nearly the same as a quality clear bra wrap. Also, the edges of a 3m clear bra show up badly on black, so if you go that route make sure to do the full panel wrapped around.

I contacted one of the Xpel reps, waiting for a quote. The bumper cover is only a few hundred box, I imagine install would be roughly the same.

Rock chips are the reason I wrapped my car. Far less stressful.

If you go with a clear bra do NOT cheap out on it. My girlfriend just got a 2010 M3 and it had what looked like a cheesy precut kit on it. It just looked really bad. We spent 5 hours last night removing it from the hood and one fender. Removal itself wasn't bad but it left a ton of adhesive even with a heat gun.
