wheels in slate or gun metal grey

I sent some gt3 style turbo wheels to get finished in a gun metal grey color but they did not come out nearly dark enough. Anyone have photos or paint code and photos of what they have done in past?

Mine came out to look like GT Silver color so pretty bummed for a silver car.

I had mine painted with Porsche's Meteor Grey Metallic paint. I don't recall the paint code off hand but it's a common color on the 997's so it should be easy to obtain if you want. It is very similar to gunmetal grey but as the name implies it has some metallic in it but not too much. I'm really please with them as they have a very rich look by not being just an opaque color IMO.

Wow, they almost look black until you really check them out up close. More along the lines of what I was looking for. You positive it is Meteor Grey?

Very helpful that you have the exact same wheel. Here is how mine turned out. The Meteor Grey is a tad to black for me but it could just be the photo. Mine is too light, Others opinions?

Should I have wheel guy re-do or just live with it?

They def look darker in the pics and don't show the metallic as well. I dug up my receipt and it says, " Meteor Grey Metallic Q9 2007 Porsche." Here's an angle shot that might show the true color a tad better but it still might be too dark for your taste.

I also think the contrast looks great, I would go with the Meteor Grey.

Just to throw your a curve.... the newer 997 Turbos have a wheel option that has parts of it painted a metallic grey. It is just a smidgen lighter than the meteor grey. The center caps on my wheels are the factory ones painted that slightly lighter grey color, part # 7PP-601-149. You can't tell from the pics but in person a discerning eye would pick it up. If you could find the paint code for those wheels I think it'd be perfect. I always figure if I ever found some GT2 wheels in this style I'd go with that color. That said, I'm totally happy with my wheel color and I'm sure you will be too if you decide to go that way.

Good info. I pulled the last page from a 997.2 turbo where the ext colors have swatches and cut out the meteor grey swatch and verified the 2007 Q9 code dealer confirmed and gave that to my paint guy.

I also had him look at the photos you sent me from your wheels. It is hard to tell that yours are actually meteor grey as they appear much darker, more like Atlas Grey which I could also live with but I stuck to Meteor Grey and will hope it all works out either way they should get darker that what he did so I should be happy with the outcome.

I did the same thing with the sales brochure using the swatch and I think my paint ended up a bit darker than the Meteor Grey but I liked it. In fact, I bought touch up paint from the dealer because I had a small scratch and it didn't match well at all as it came out lighter. But then I've never had any of their touch up paint match well with other colors either. Good Luck!

Yes you are correct with the exception of the textured finish. Looking for a clearcoat shine over that shade of grey just to dress the car up a tad since it is my dd now. Thanks!

Wow, looks nice and darker than seal grey but might just be the lighting. Your car looks darker than Arctic Silver, GT silver maybe?
