Considering Daily Driving my Turbo
Honestly man, just turn it into a numbers game. Figure out the cost of your current daily vs the expected additonal depreciation you'll suffer from daily driving it.
Unless you have an incredibly low mileage TT (like <20k miles), it seems like 40k vs 60k yields similar resale values. The price differential isn't taht great. PLUS you have to look at the fact that at some point, the 997TT is getting closer and closer to our 996 prices. Since very few people PREFER the 996, when debating between a low mileage 996 and a higher mileage 997, I don't see who would choose the 996.
So for me, I doubt you'll lose much by daily driving it even if it does damage the interior etc. The next buyer of your car is going to be buying it for supra like moddability and will probably look over the scratches you might put on it.
Net net, you'll be happier driving it daily and your wallet won't really suffer. These things aren't popular enough to be collectors pieces so don't use it as such
That's my theory anyway

i am totally in the same type of situation as you
i bought my 996tt 3 years ago and ive only put 8k miles on it since (which included a 2200 mile trip bringing it home from SLC Utah)
usually i have a winter daily then during the summer im always on my motorcycles mainly because i always find myself thinking i need to keep the miles off the 996 but why? ...exactly!!!! i dont have a good enough explaination either
so with that being said last night i ordered up an oil filter kit and some clear oem sidemarkers. today im going to get some 5w-50 and in 2 weeks its going on the road and going to be my daily driver here in NY.
Plus in 2 months im relocating to so-cal and ill be rotating between that and my motorcycles (2005 triumph speed triple and 1955 HD panhead)

when you get to SoCal you'd be probably be better served using 0/40 or even 5/40. 5/50 is a bit thick for our climate, i would think.

The best analogy I've heard is this,"Owning a nice car and not driving it because you're afraid of the wear and tear is like being married to a supermodel and not banging her routinely because you want her to be nice and tight for her next husband."
Poetically stated
It's just your head. Once you get that sorted you will drive it daily like I do. I just avoid driving my car during the winter but only for about three months when they really put the salt down (Dec/Jan/Feb). I do 10K miles per year with no issues. Car is on 90K miles. I would not abuse my interior though, no surfboard through the sunroof. :-). I suggest roof-rack for the board and bag which you can stick in the trunk. Sand from your feet will hoover just fine! :-).
Ha ha ha. Brilliant!
Yeah- maybe get some Lloyd mats like this- Rubbertite
http://lloydmats.com/?page_id=98
to keep sand on mats & out of carpet- good for moisture too-also have one for the front trunk/bonnet- which would help if you need to throw in a
wet wetsuit...
I have these for winter driving and they save the carpet. Can just take them out and hose them off.
if you are sitting in car to change out of wet gear or drive home with soggy swimsuit would recommend seat covers too.
used to windsurf a lot in Rhode Island and my old car would get sand in it and moisture- but had cloth seats so cleaned up well. I think the Porsche factory roof rack is rated for 150-160#- so more than enough for a couple of boards thrown on top.
I'm at 4,000 + miles since I got my X50 in September and been driving daily- big smile on my face every day-life's too short.
