Accept Refund?

Doug,
You were offered a refund. IMHO,the refund is offered to appease you and stop all the trash talk on this board.Quoted below with permission from RufAutocentre is a mail sent to you by Ruf!

Doug,

The Bumper is the same for all 996 from Model Year 2002, even with Porsche, I just installed one on a 996 this morning and had no fitment issues and never had before either, it is entirely possible something happened during shipping or it isn’t installed properly, all these Bumpers are made of the same mold, we use Stuarts Paint and Bodyshop here in Dallas, they do all of Ferrari’s and Porsche’s Bodywork in the DFW area and I talked to them this morning and he had no Problems yet either !
However we will call and get it corrected, I was also alerted about your postings on 6speed and don’t worry if you want to send the Bumper Back we will issue a full refund !

Ruf has serviced my factory machine for six seasons of open road racing in which the vehicle has literally dozens of runs above 200 mph! I have yet to pay one thin dime for service. Ruf simply respects the way I use my car and Ruf supports me and my purpose.

Don't want a refund and I may still be stuck with cost to return to stock. I guess Ruf told you to post this so they can weasle out of coming up here and fixing the issue.

No,Ruf didn't ask me to post that. I asked permission. I also asked for the mail. They were reluctant and they held off until you continued to ramble. Now,WTF should Ruf have to fly to your location? IMHO,Ruf has walked the extra mile. IMHO,the road you draw on the map is endless. Signing off. AMF!

I continued to ramble because of quesitons and post like yours attacking me.

Sounds like they don't want to have to come up and admit that bumper may be bent.

Flying up here and fixing would be cheaper than refunding $ 5k and paying to return to stock. It would also be cheaper to send a prepped straight bumper to my dealer to have dealer install.

My only options with Ruf are apparently refund which leaves me paying to return to stock (which I don't want) or living with bumper as it is now.

Why are you taking the body shop out of the equation? A scapegoat is not a scapegoat if they actually did something wrong. You still haven't convinced anyone that they did nothing wrong. And you still haven't answered the question of whether they test fit the piece before paint and install. This makes no sense!!

I also dont understand why you want to take the shop out of the equation. From everything I have read about this it seems like it is the shop's fault and Ruf is willing to give you a new bumper.

What would you do if Ruf came out and found the problem to be that the shop didnt move the radiators and brackets corectly?

I will take the new bumper, but would rather have dealer install since most seem to slam my shop.

You know what, I will pay for the new installation costs if my shop did not move the radiators corectly. I doubt this is the problem since when the bumper was moved into position it bowed and there was nothing solid behind it.

My point is if Ruf is so sure the bumper is straight, then they should easily be able to correct the problem. If the shop I used screwed up the radiators, I will pay for the new cost to have dealer install.

Ruf can send the bumper and they can decide who does the install. I don't care. Funny that they want to blame my shop and then have me use the same shop that is not qualified to do it. I cannot win with Ruf or you guys, You will spin it no matter what. The fact is Ruf will likely do nothing and will just wait this out and in the end I will be stuck with a misaligned bumper.

I wouldn't take it to heart Doug the only reason your getting a reaction like this is because people have a major love affair with RUF. No matter what they do or what they charge(usually insanely high) it's automatically amazing just because it's RUF. Had your problem been with a tuner such as TECHART for example everyone would be like yea there product sucks and it's all TA's fault.

doug h v. ruf

Doug,

Do yourself a favor and delete this thread. You're starting to look bad.

Your previous posts state that your shop said the bumper looked great and went on with hardly any mods. Ergo there were some mods, and the shop did some work on it. Later you say the side sticks out 3 inches. Whatever.

Ruf HAS admitted there may be something wrong with the piece, and that there may be several reasons why. This should have been noticed prior to install, especially if as you later state its as if there is simply too much material. AFTER your shop installs it and tells you it looks kick-***.

Be fair here. You've been offered more than can be expected and you continue ti whine. Now you want someone to fly up when no-one is contesting the issue. Everybody agrees - there is something wrong with your bumper. We believe you, as does Ruf. Its a shame your shop didn't notice the three inches when they reported the excellent install and great results.

Although judging by the amount of time you've spent posting on the matter I doubt this is really about the bumper at this point.

Enjoy your moment...

seh1:

I agree. I am just asking for a new preped Basalt Black straight bumper and I will have it installed by whoever Ruf chooses as long as they are in Memphis. Just give me a new bumper. Will I get it, we will see.

I thought you were done. You say crap like AMF to me and then you want to negotiate with me. Why do even care, especially to the point of attacking me or getting personally involved.

I am not going to keep both bumpers to sell one and profit or anything like that. That is even more insulting than the AMF. Why don't you just stay out of it and let Ruf handle it.

This is basically the same attitude I got when dealing with Ruf on the telephone. You apparently have my emails. Who are you and why do you care.
