Also for reference, I ran a silver Murci in chi-town from a like 50 roll and sat even with him through 150, (where we passed a cop, oops). was a little back and fourth moving but like a total of 3 feet. Had 3 cars trying to hang with to watch so there are witnesses.
From the Mustang forums:
I had a chance to race a Gallardo from a roll, 50 to 110 (I had a passenger in my car who can concur). My KB 03 was laying down 606 whp at the time. Let me tell you that the Gallardo and I were almost dead even. Those things are way faster than they say. I bet many of the owners don't go throw them on the dyno to see what they make, but if they did I be it would prove they don't make 550 at the crank. Those things are really fast.

Claiming peak horsepower numbers isn't a valid way to decide how a car will perform - it's a matter of *where* the horsepower is made, along with weight, gearing, and traction.
There are plenty of guys around my area of town that have Mustangs producing *big* peak horsepower numbers. The trouble is, the big power is made in the last 500 rpm before redline - a lot of good that does them. These cars with "late horsepower" claim their big numbers as something to watch out for, when in fact they aren't very fast at all.

Very true. Its all power band and gearing. That cobra prob made a very high peak number but i dont know about the powerband. The gallardo ate that car alive. I once raced a Gallardo with an E55 and lost by 1-2 cars max.
