Hi all.
The reason I haven't posted for so long is that I have just not been
driving my Porsche that much, and I think it's time to let it into the
hands of someone who will get the benefit. Let me know what ballpark
price it is worth.

I am the original/only owner. Silver '01 model 996TT with California
plate '01 996TT'. Only 23,000 miles! Not a scratch, not a pebble-pit,
perfect outside and underneath.

Essentially and visually stock except for these subtle improvements:

Evo short-shift kit and linkage hardware to replace the failure-prone stock plastic

WEVO engine mounts for better handling feel

S-Car-Go carbon-fiber intake system for a bit better breathing

Stock turbos and wastegates from UMW, zero-clearanced with upgraded 997 impeller wheel

UMW selectable programming: In 30 seconds, you can switch between:
the stock program,
a 91-octane performance program,
a 100-octane performance program,
a 'valet' program.
This gives you a power range from 40 hp. to over 500 at the wheels

heavy duty single-mass lightweight clutch for quicker reving and to handle any power

Europipe Stage II quiet exhaust

the better GT3 adjustable lower front control arms

the GT3 adjustable sway bars with adjustable linkages

ProTrak single-adjustable coil-over gas shocks

Car perfectly corner-balanced with documentation.
I've been **** about oil, which has been changed
10 times or more.

Find any perfect picture of a stock silver 996tt, and that's it.
Actually, my ride height may be adjusted slightly lower than stock.

The car has never seen a race track, but it has won autocross
series. (Autocross does not stress anything on a car except
tires )

New battery and fresh master and slave cylinder.

I'll throw in a durametric logger and oil filter remover for DYI'ers.

I'd say $45k firm. If it sells fine if not fine

 

^ I might start off a little higher but I would think you would be in the ball park of 45-50k. Have any pictures of this beast ?

 

Feels low considering the condition and "non-invasive" performance modifications. Suggest you either start around ~50, or do like pumptech recommends and put a non-negotiable price on it at mid-high 40s.

You want the car to go go to someone who will appreciate it, and someone who will appreciate it will recognize the value of your Porsche.

mods just dont brin g any cash. my turbo had 45,000$ in receipts from gmg and i paid the same as if it was a bone stock car. better to return it to stock and sell the parts seperate

 

true. flip side is although they won 't bring cash.. but the mods depending upon what they are might bring a better price from the right buyer..i think i paid more and got pretty much what i wanted.. "saving" me the $$ in mods. whatever it mightve been..

... resulting in the same thing. more for the seller. either way, this guy's car is very nicely done ( assuming ) and the right guy will know it, and pay for it. it's being able to wait, that would make the difference.. i would think.

 

At 45k the car moves and at 50k you have to be patient. How patient are you?

 

I'm currently in the market for a 996tt. I'd say $45k is a fair price from what I've seen based on mileage and mods. I'd be all over yours if it were a 2002MY

 

Forgetting abut mod value if it's as perfect as you say and you being the original owner with all documentation for everything done, I'd start it at $49K and see what happens. Include tons of quality pics including your documents. I would also put honest grades for everything on the car using a 10 point scale.

For contrast mine is an 03 with 49K miles, I am the third owner, have no documentation from the original owner, and I'd call it good condition for a Porsche. If this were a 10 year old Mercedes it would be very good condition. I wouldn't expect to get $40K for it.

You're buying your son a Porsche. When I turned 18 I was buying my own underwear. Lucky boy.

 

Yes, me too, but life changes too fast now a days.
I'm letting them enjoy it while they can (and while I can) as long as they get me good grades, no drugs and no smoking.

 

A turbo for the kid? I hope he doesn't leave track marks in his underwear.

 

With the statistics and history that most everyone (especially boys) wrecks, dents or crashes their first car, I'd not select a go fast car of this caliber for a first car....just saying. Im confident and sure he is going to be a good guy, but wow,,,,,that is almost too much temptation.
I'd have totaled it for sure!

 

Okay back on topic, and this is my rant for the day.


It really ticks me off, that when people are looking for a used car to get into, and someone is looking into a modified car, that the "buyer" goes and says, " well it does not add value to the car " ... BS, you are looking at it because for every mod $ i have thrown at it you are getting it for 1/10th of the value, if not free. And if the car you end up purchasing for the same price, you will then have to go ahead and spend that money in doing those identical mods, then you will feel like a total dumbo not buying the one that was probably modified.

So in my book yes a probably modded car is worth more. That said I have seen Joes car at an autocross event a few years ago, and it looked like a gem !
