Got the daily double of fix it tickets today, no front plate and front tint windows. Do I have to actually get them fixed or can I just pay a fine and be done with it (with no points or insurance issues).

 

You can pay the higher fine w/o fixing or the lower fine with fixing.

Or if you know someone in LE have them sign it off.

No points either way.

 

i dunno. they're getting pretty tough. i think you have to certify compliance at chp to get it signed off ( the - plate is the ez one ).. and then pay the fine regardless. but yes, *points* are not a factor. plate fine was 20? tint? they want removed, but sometimes chp will sign off on stuff you get cited for, without changing anything. the chances of this though, are increasingly rare and it takes cojones to try. i did it last w straight pipes on my bike since i didnt have a choice. cited, then passed the db whattzit or chp ears.. next hassle. but i have long since given up on the notion of no front plate running in CA.

why give em a reason, i say.

 

I got the same double dose a few weeks ago. Lucky I know a 6-speeder who is a CHP.

 

Don't go to chp. They r the ones issuing them and very uptight abt it.

Local pd is more relaxed. sheriff department also.

You can get front plate signed off. Then sign the tint with the same officers info. DMV won't care.

 

good points. i always find the folks signing off are a lot cooler about it than the ones issuing them.
