Clutch Stuck...please help!
Clutch Stuck...please help!
Posted about 3 months ago and zero response, and was hoping someone might be able to help me out trying to diagnose what is wrong. Finally getting my mechanic to work on it since he has been booked until now.
"Well, I did an extensive search on here and probably already know the problem, but want to see if anyone has any insight. My clutch is a GT3RS lightweight that has been 100% problem free for many years. I have been told it might be the slave or master cylinder, but figure the pedal would be mushy if so. Also the accumulator was replaced about a year ago with no issues.
Was driving home from work at normal speeds, went to take my exit, depressed the clutch to downshift and felt a clunk in the pedal. Went to put the car into 2nd gear and it wouldn't go in at all. The pedal was stuck at the floor. I used my foot, and pulled the pedal up and then couldn't press the clutch down at all. I coasted about 500 feet and stopped and turned the car off (hoping it was a fluke).
Well, had the hardest time pressing the clutch to restart the car. The car goes smoothly into gear when its off, but doesn't engage when running. Now I am literally about .1 miles from home and decided to turn the car off, put it into 2nd gear and start it to drive it home, which was successful since I didn't want to leave it on the side of a busy road. So basically the pedal is extremely hard to depress and once I got it started, the pedal was to the floor, but the car did start going even though the clutch pedal was fully depressed.
So, I am guessing from a search the throw-out bearings are toast. Do my symptoms sound like the TO bearings? What cost is associated and how much are throw out bearings? I did find a part # Throw out bearing: 944 116 080 01 and was wondering if I should order anything else. Thanks for any help."
