No, because you said you got rid of the Pirellis.

Ok... You went on the internet, posted that you bought tires on a Porsche forum, and then what? You expected no one was going to post back their experience, good or bad???

I'm not going to speak for the other guy. As for me, I consider what I've posted as a WARNING so people don't waste their money buying these tires. Newsflash... I bought mine long before you did, and I want to spare others my mistakes. Just like when someone buys an expensive mod that doesn't end up increasing horsepower, I appreciate when they post about it and tell the rest of us to spend our hard earned money elsewhere. If you think I'm trying to make you look like a loser, you couldn't be more wrong. Hell, you're in Dallas, I'll probably run into you at a Cars and Coffee someday. I don't want any ill will with a fellow Porsche owner, we should be here to help each other out.

If your driving it around like any other normal car and giving it a few blasts a year on the street you can run all seasons on these cars for god sakes.

If you put miles on the car and are a hard driver on the street you may not like the v12s as they are a lower end tire.

In all honesty of your driving the speed limit around town 99% of the time any friggin tire will work.

With that said I have N1 Bridgestone RE050a on my car, they are super expensive and super awesome.

Fair enough. I'll post up honestly with more miles on the tires and a little harder driving. I'm hoping they are fine for me, but if they aren't I'll admit it. I have no allegiance to them other than the money I just spent.

By the way, how did you do the multiple quote thing in one post? That's pretty cool.

that's a pretty good idea leftlane, though you'd probably be safer in the rightlane drive safely, and enjoy the car. that's ( all ) what matters.

Just highlight the text you want to quote, then click the icon that looks like a "quote" with words in it, next to the insert image icon. Or you can copy/paste the quote tags.

FWIW, I hope they work out for you. It'd be great if there was a lower cost alternative to the Michelins, that's why I bought them to try them out after all. If yours perform better than mine did, I'd like a ride sometime to see.

Just reading this thread... Do you guys, tx turbo and NYC feel the same way about the sumitomos? The htr z3?

On my m5 I switched from michelin pilots and felt they were just as good everywhere except for maybe wet. And they were quieter

I also put them on my 335i that was fill bolt on +meth + n2o and then did pretty well there too.

I don't race my cars or push them to their limits... My limits are far shorter.

I've never tried the Sumitomos, so I can't say. However, after my experience with the Hankooks, I did some searching on the web and there are lots of people complaining of a weak sidewall with the Sumitomos too, so I personally would avoid them because I don't want a repeat of what I got with the Hankooks. If someone else took the plunge and got good results and posted their experience, I might give them a shot.

I have a nice "S" curve near my home, where the posted speed limit is 30mph. Taking it at 45 mph is fun, and was always enjoyable. The minute I switched to the Hankooks, taking that corner, even at 35 mph, my PSM kicked in, braked the car, and it was the first time I'd ever had the car do that while going less than 75-80mph. Went to Boardwalk and had them give me a more aggressive alignment just to be drivable, until I got MPSC's.

I put the v12s on my car, looking forward to wearing them out and getting something better on there. Had them on my Volkswagen CC that was on coilovers and 19" wheels, likes them a lot. Had them on my jaguar XF in 20" and liked them a lot too.

They are just too mushy on the 996tt, I feel like my Mercedes c300 has better turn in now LOL. And I get some weird noise if I corner hard, feels like the tire is rolling over or something (PSM???). Added a couple psi extra to make them feel a little stiffer but that's not the solution unfortunately.

We have pretty good roads in Ontario so maybe that's a factor?
+1 I recently replaced my 18" stock hollow spokes & Hankooks with 19" Forgestar cf10s w/Hankooks (the Forgestars are approx. the same weight as the factory 18"). Didn't notice any real difference in ride quality. I did go to a 245 wide front which helped a lot with front end grip but other than that, they feel the same to me.

I'm running on H&R coilovers but doubt that's much of a factor. I daily drive my car and put around 10K miles a year on it so I'd say I have a decent amount of time on them to compare.

One thing I will say in response to the never ending Hankook debate is: with the 18" Hankooks I was running, they were horrible for the first 500-1K miles. No idea why, but after the first 500-1K miles, they lost the vague "squishy" feeling and were fine for the next 9K miles. The 19" set felt much better out of the gate.

I think the hankooks do better with the shorter sidewalls, both sets I liked were thinner sidewalls than the OEM sized kookies I have on there now

This is my daily driver and gets driven everyday so I'm extremely worried about that aspect. How noticeable is daily driving 19s vs 18s? The tires for 18s are cheaper but only by a small amount. My other main concern with 19s and stock suspension is wheel gap. If I put 19s on my stock height I'm afraid it will give it that 4x4 look. Not planning to lower any time soon. If I do go for 19s there's tons of wheels styles available that I really like, and tires as well. Also there's something to be said about a nice looking big 19in wheel. Also the 19s seem to be cheaper as a set thatn 18s. I'm most concerned about the ride quality of 19s vs 18s and how bad will the wheel gap be, if any? TIA. Also I was gonna get hankook evo v12 tires. Since it is a daily driver should I consider high performance all season's or is that a stupid question? Please help me with the wheels before weighing in on tires. Thanks so much guys

Check your emails i responded back to you.

Hey guys wow you really responded to my question and quick, thanks a ton. Couple things, we did get a lil sidetracked with all the tire info and it was very necessary and helpful. Its just I'm trying to concentrate on the rims right now. I'm just trying to get my car on the road for cheap. I figure if hankooks are even decent they're good enough for now. I just DD was some occasional spirited driving. If there are any other tires that offer better performance for a similiar price or even a small amount extra, please clue me. But to get back on course, you'll find in my OP that I was leanin towards 18 for all the obvious reasons, and most people on here responded" ya get 18s" but what 18 are you getting? I can only find 3 different styles of 'off the shelf' 18s for our car (Innisbruk, Lemans and Turismo). I don't have time to order other custom forgelines or the like. Also again tire selection seems limited and almost the same price as tires for 19s. In fact some of the 19" are cheaper than 18s. So do all the people running 18s have custom wheels or am I not in some secret club where you can get good looking in-stock 18s for our cars?

There are plenty of 18 inch sets available for our cars. Based on the wheels you posted though, you're searching for a cheap set of wheels. BBS RS-GT's come factory sized and look great, but you gotta pay to play, among others.

Check the classifieds. There was a guy selling a set of SSR GT3 wheels/tires for cheap not too long ago, they look great.
