Thumbs down No more Ultra 94....

I like running Sunoco Ultra 94. Recently I filled up and realized that Sunoco is now only offering Ultra 93...Their quote on the pump was "Same quality, lower octane" I said to myself, "Yippeee!!!",

Anyways, this change effects NY, CT and soon the rest of New England. Apparently the main ingredient in Ultra 94 was MTBE which has now been banned, thank's to the tree hugger's lobby. I spoke with a guy who races motorcycles professionally today...A Ducati rider (Go KPV), he is sponsered by Klotz Lube, who makes specialty racing gas, additives and lubricants. In short, you can buy race gas in 108 and 113 octane varieties in 55 gallon drums.
They also have octane booster and power additives that oxygenate the gas for better burning in the c chamber. here's their link and link to a pdf with pricing and details of the products...

Think I may try the octane booster. 1 ounce per gallon with boost the octane by 2 1/2 numbers. I will also talk to them about the oxygen power booster.

Anyone familiar with their products????

Chris Y. is infamous around these parts
Are they leaded or unleaded fuels??? I've download the PDF info sheets for both and doesn't say if they are leaded or unleaded.

Let us know how it works!

Personally I use 76 100 octane "cool blue" for high octane fuels. Usually, run a 50/50 mix of 92 pump and 100 octane.

It is unclear whether it's leaded or it's "Got the Led Out"

Steve Weiner from Rennsport Systems put it this way:
"If you need a higher octane fuel than 93, use or mix unleaded race gas,.....do not use leaded race gas or any octane boosters.

Octane boosters really cannot be homogeneously blended in a gas tank and the chemicals used on those products attack the elastomers in the fuel system. Further, they leave a real mess on the plugs, valves, and combustion chambers.

Caveat Emptor on those things. They really do very little."

I think I will leave well enough alone...Interesting topic, however.

Wish we had a 76 around here. It would be nice to have access to 100 at the pump....

Mansour:
It is unclear whether they are leaded or not. I guess it could be worth a phone call. I suspect that these are leaded racing fuels. Since my car's mapped for 91 or higher, I am going to stick with 93. I can understand the interest for you guys especially with the Stage mods where the mapping is optimized for a particular octane...

I wouldn't blame the tree huggers. Our water is getting poisoned by that stuff.

Thumbs up Sunoco 94

I just filled up with Ultra 94 at my local Sunoco here on Long Island. I asked the attendant if he knew anything about discontinuing 94 and he hasn't heard anything about it. Mabe it's a regional thing.

You best stock up...My dealer had no warning when the octane changed. Once he needs to have his tanks filled, it will be 93. It's now law in NYS and CT and the rest of New England is to follow. I read the literature at my Sunoco dealer....
