Adjustable Lower Control Arms for a Road Car?

My car's just started making a creaking noise which I think I've tracked down to the lower control arms

Since I need to replace the arm(s) I'm wondering whether I should fit an OEM item, or 'upgrade' to an adjustable LCA?

The car's suspension is stock ROW

I have a set of KW clubsport coilovers, but I haven't fitted them yet

The car is used as a daily driver, and has GT2 tyre sizes

I'm going to keep the car forever, so I'm guessing I might need/want to replace the dogbones, etc, when the rubber bushes wear out

If I'm going to fit those items (at a later date) should I look at fitting the adjustable LCAs?
Or are they overkill for me and my driving purposes?

I've been looking at the RSS items, and they seem to be the best ones available, but I'm a little worried that there's no rubber gaitor fitted to the end ball joint

I'm in England, where the weather's bad, so I need to make sure I'm buying something that can put up with poor weather conditions

Also - I've heard when I eventually replace my drop links I should fit ones with ball-ends, rather than rose joints, as the aftermarket ones wear out too quickly and make noises shortly after fitment

Has anyone experienced this, as I'd always thought rose joints would outlast ball ends?

The factory gT3 have sealed boots which is a better all weather choice IMHO.

The *only* reason you need the GT3/2 style adjustable LCAs is if you need to add more camber to your setup and want to add shims to lengthen the LCA to do it.

Unless you are telling your mechanic -- "I want -2.5 camber in the front" and he's saying "well, you need to buy some LCAs". Then I would replace with someones low mileage stock ones from the board after they swapped to adjustables.

Anytime you are "upgrading" your suspension you are going to get more creaks/pops. It sounds like you're trying to get rid of noises, not add them. Stay away from heim joins and monoball anything, if that's the case.

Have a set of stock ones, but out here in CA USA. I'm sure you can find some clean local set, but if not my 996tt stocks are up for grabs. FYI- I went with GT3 LCAs because I needed the extra camber for tracking to keep the tire wear more even. Original LCAs never made noise not do my drop links that have been in the car for several years.

Good luck-

I have the same setup on the street, kw clubsports and I went with the complete RSS tarmac series setup. Been on the car for almost two years, lots of track but now only street. Drove them throught a snowy winter even, not an issue or a noise.

They are a great addition to these cars imo, and much more then simply for adjustability. The precision the car has now is just incredible and the tire wear vastly improved, especially on the track.

I did install rubber heim joint boots when I installed mine, ordered them online. Perhaps RSS sells them now I havent looked.

The kw clubsports for the street are much more noticible of a mod for harshness, especially on our ****ty Canadian roads. But once you hit a set of corners all is forgotten lol.
