I have the same issue and I just live with it. I'm thinking about maybe tyring to rig up something next time I have the bumper off, but for now it really doesn't bother me. I like the grill idea...seems like that is the perfect solution!

 

I have the right side oem GT2 duct that has just a little piece that runs vertically next to the radiator cut out of it, maybe 1/2" x 4", easy fix with a piece of rubber. I can get a pic posted tomorrow if anybody is interested.
