Data adquisition equipment

I am having a data adquisition system designed for my car by orbit racing just like the one in the race cars, including suspension data , fuel mixture , boost , exhaust temperature etc. ,ect.
I was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this , if so can you supply some feedback on your findings. When i have pictures i will post them.

I run a full race data acquidition in my IMSA GT2 racecar.
It records the following :

TPS
G's
RPM
Steering
Suspension travel
Fuel Pressure
Oil Pressure
Oil Temp
Boost pressure
Left bank EGT
Right Bank EGT
Left Bank Wideband
Right bank Wideband
Air temp

Does track mapping, etc...

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Regards,
Norm

ColorChange should be alighting on this thread soon...

I would like a plug-n-play DAS for the 996tt that I would use
for driver and handling development. I would like to record:

Throttle position
steering angle
brake application
G forces
speed
RPM
Yaw/push (oversteer/understeer)
Able to integrate/correlate with video input

Then I would need to be able to easily download
data to a PC with software that would graph/play back the
data and plot car position and direction based on the data.

I'd like to be able to simply plug it into the diagnostic
port under the dash, but be able to function somewhat
without this, for use in other more primative cars.

I use the AIM system. It works great and is way less expensie than stack or motec. The AIM will get some stuff from the ECU through the CAN bus but you can't get steering, yaw, suspension, etc. If you do a search you will see where I listed what the AIM can pull. Other than that you need to hardwire.

Norm - welcome your excellence. Guys ... Norm is mega fast at the track. Trust me!

We run Motec data "acquisition" on our cars and love it....
So I dont know about the other type of data systems mentioned earlier

Stack and Pi also make very good reliable systems.

I am not sure of the other brands...

If you need more info on Motec you can email me directly,,,,

I presume this is for a race car?:
