Been dragging my feet... still haven't started. Busy and some other issues with the car needed sorting out first. will start a project post when things get rolling here in month or two.

Here a couple more. No idea on complete date, hope soon though. Flat curve is how they set up the road racers. Maybe 600 peak or so but really have no idea until it's on the dyno.

Thanks. We had to tub the rear wells which meant moving everything to run the full RSR suspension, wheels and tires for clearance. Here are a couple of pics that show the new intercooler intakes and the air path to the intercoolers. The stock tail light housing is gutted and seals off the intercooler chamber forcing air movement from high pressure to low pressure. The tail light lenses will have quick connectors to remove quickly and clean the intercoolers of tire clag.

Joining this thread late, however I am interested in making my 2002 996 Turbo a wide body or adding overfenders while keeping it street. So much info here, but is there a conclusion on which kit offers this for a street car with minimal race conversion? I saw GMG use to offer a kit but it's no longer posted on their new site. Any advice you have is appreciated!

Subscribe. ..very interesting conversion.

Anyone find where to purchase bolt on fender flares like the RUF cars for the 996 or 996TT?

Been a while since last update.
996 turbo wide body project is back from the body shop. Rear bumper/fenders/side skirt from AIR fit reasonably well (from what i can tell, it's a cast/mould off a kit commonly used on GT2-R Biturbo race cars), but the front kit, in-house from AIR did not fit well with headlights. Not saying it's impossible to work around, there's couple boxsters that have fit this kit that i have found online, (green track boxster with AIR wide GT2 front end think images are on this thread). Heard GT3RSR fenders face similar challenges fitting street headlamps. The other issue is the gas cap and tunnel... not straight forward. Have chosen another route. Started fabricating a custom metal front fender extension to graft to the OEM piece. Each piece is hand shaped (hammer/anvil) from 1.2mm sheet metal. Will modify gas tunnel and cap so it works as standard, and flush with fender. Might need to use funnel at gas station. Lazy to upload photos here, have updated a FB post. Lots of small details and issues not covered, if there's anyone interested in doing similar email me at info@drivenmotorwerks.com. Will do my best to share & help. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3781381&type=3 |
Awesome, look fwd to see it on the street, as long as we are at the same place :P

Did this ever get finished?

That DP body kit is the best i have seen so far. I would like to see GT3 RSR head light openings in the fenders.

I do not know, the bodywork was already built when i bought the car. The RSR kit was built around 07-08 I'll guess. |
