sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant to ask-how long(minutes/hours?) was the car running on this particular drive?

I warmed it up for 10 minutes at idle and drove I drove for 5 minutes. Did a few pulls to 120 or so, and then did a pull to 155 where it shut down with the check engine thing and no oil pressure. I turned it off and saw oil on the ground. I left it on the side of the road for now, will pick it up tomorrow.

was going to propose a possible thermal shock to the oil heat-exchanger(fracture/break) but sounds like not the issue based on warm-up...either way you're lucky the oil didn't catch fire!...hopefully tomorrow reveals some better news after an inspection of leaks and maybe an ECU scan for any codes caught...
Cheers,

I would bet it's not a blown motor. You would have heard a rod knock or a pop.

1,4bar isnt a reason for a blowing engine, maybe you have luck and its only a oil leak

lean fuel is always a risk

Ehhhh loss of oil pressure is never a good thing especially on a high performance motor. Bearing damage whether its blown or not. My guess is it is blown. 155mph means he was womping on it in 5th gear, at 1.4bar at such high load on stock rods I can totally see a rod failure and oil pump damage as well as cylinder damage and possibly cracked cases.... Motors do not always seize when they break rods.

You probably have the horrible 91 octane crap we do as well.

My bet is it's not a blown motor. A couple of weeks ago our buddy Tim lost all his coolant. Everyone was convinced it was the epoxied pipe issue at the top of the engine, it turned out to be a blown hose. These cars are getting older, rubber hoses and seals drying out, plastics getting brittle.

What do you think it is?
Why do you think the motor is running so rough?

Spilling coolant and spilling oil is not the same. Most oil lines are metal here and dont just explode like coolant hoses do.

+1, regardless if rods/case/etc aren't 'damaged', I would be going through engine regardless and replacing main and rod bearings and inspecting the crank at a minimum....of course there's always the rare chance that something really funky has gone on and minimal effort/parts are required...

hard to say when you dont even know for sure if its blown or not.. where is the car now ? are you taking it some where ? when you find out the prognosis if it is blown when you tear it apart you will find your answer

any smoke coming out exhaust when this happened? or when at idle afterwards?
only reason I'm avoiding a blown rod diagnosis is that fact the OP didn't notice a bang or feel it, a blown rod makes itself very well known...
