Problem-- no other tuner stepped up -- I did. : ) - I know my exhaust makes power.

The Speed tech dude came into one of my threads when I was looking for an exhaust and had his bash against several of the items I was looking at. I asked him to put his money where his mouth was and give me a He'll take it back and give me my money back Guarantee if it does not sound good and make more power then what I already had on my car --> He went absolutely quiet and said nothing, did not return a single message after that.

The only three people that continue to deal with me were
EB werks -- I decided to not go that route as I did not want something that loud.

Protomotive -- I rake Todd over the coals getting it all done but the exhaust is just brilliant sounding!

911Tuning -- Mark is always so much help and a joy to deal with, I in the end did not want an X exhaust. But he is still great to deal with.

So my two cents, when a vender is not willing to back up his talk and other are I go with one that will walk the talk.

I have tested on the dyno, stock with mods/gutted cats, Cargraphics with 200 and 100cell cats,, Fabspeed 2.75'' Catless X-pipe and I still end up with 100 cell Milltek for power and sound..... But I think there there are better power ones out there but Alot louder or my taste..
As they say, you can't have your cake and eat it too,,, but maybe some day.. LOL

Wow, I was really hoping this thread would not go in the direction it has, but what was I thinking?

Enrique...I was just being honest and trying to help others and you seem to have taken it a bit personally. Like I said, your exhaust sounded great but to say it was a good exhaust for most daily drivers is plain disingenuous. Ironically, the main reason I had to get rid of it was that I wanted to start doing DE's and it was not correctable to sound levels that were acceptable. I needed further support and EBWerks was out of the game.
I hope we can still be friends

After re-reading your post, I had to add:
The sound issue is subjective, and most would disagree with you if you read the reviews of Speedtech. The 3.0 catless system is not quiet by any means, and to say that it provides no power increase based on a drag race you had with your friend is just silly. You know I had my stock exhaust installed between the EBWerks and the Speedtech. During this time my car was noticeably down on power, boost was delayed, and it just felt weak. There was no way it was approaching the 600WHP that it did with your exhaust on it. When the speedtech showed up I installed it immediately and it made the car feel EXACTLY like it did with your exhaust on it, only with a more acceptable sound level when cruising. At WOT it isn't much quieter and it sounds great! I just don't like reading fiction so I had to edit this.

I had a similar situation with my X design exhaust for the 997tt as the EB werks... a client wanted a quiet exhaust with cats ( 2.5" piping) yet the tuner shop had other things in mind with the car... ran crazy boost with race gas burnt the cats and I bashed me online... saying X design systems dont make as much power as others.. I really find it funny since they dont even make exhaust and better yet when they were making $200 downpipes for Mitsu Evos I was running 9s in the 1/4 in my 996... I gave a full refund and that was it.. wrong exhaust for the application... but the damage was done...
You guys seem to argue about the stupidest stuff sometimes... support those who have been here for years like John from Speedtech, Enrique from Ebwerks, etc and not some knock off new comers who come online take someone else's ideas and sell for cheap... Mind you, some X exhausts are $5800 and they do sell... yes some argue about the ID outlet on a exhaust flange being 1/8' smaller etc.. but forget to see that its made for pennies on a dollar...
I still have yet to hear a full 3" exhaust without any drone... Im guessing the loudness is elevated that you simply cant tell the difference... you guys are simply comparing whatever you have to whatever you had... and that is simply not a fair assumption to make either way... had you listened to 12 different ones you would see the true colors of each... I know I have...
just saying...

I'm sorry but how is this remotely similar to the situation in my OP? And what is unfair about trying to keep people from making the mistake I made? I've heard more than two, but I hopefully will only have to live with purchasing two. Most people would like to purchase one and be done with it. Also, EBWerks is gone. I agree with your point about dealing with long term vendors that are more likely to be around. That is a central theme of this post and one of the main reasons I switched.

Yes, we have done that and can do it very easily - we just substitute a short in-line muffler for the cat and it is "modular", so it can be changed or swapped, if required for any reason...

Mike I'm not gone. I just can't build any due to contract obligations. I'm working on getting that contract "revised" i should know soon.

That said...if you are looking to go for more track ... you already headed the wrong way with 19's / the turbo's you have, the PSS9's you are getting /clutch system etc. ... anyways- i know everyone hears this at one point but talk to people with experience in what you are trying to accomplish( If I want goto fast power i go to Marski or UMW- those 2 know tons of info).. i have 10 years of it with DE's ( 7 years in Porsches) not including my pro racing license+ nationals in karting.. . That said' - ill see you at track in Decm for your first event.

Furthermore, some maliciously want to hurt your business by going online and even on social media in a smear campaign.... ... and that is wrong especially when I took that same used exhaust and made 40whp just by swapping it on my tune back to back...
to the OP- I was referring that you bought the wrong exhaust for the application just like in my recent 997 situation where the owner wanted X and the shop had other ideas (developing their 900hp kit)... had I known I would never sell it....

Has anyone had experience with Vortex Cones by Dynatech for helping with drone?
I know years ago FabSpeed recommended them to help, they were put in the muffler exhaust outlet pipe.
But I heard of others putting them directly in the cat delete pipes..

I have been kicking around the idea of a GT3RS 997 or even a Lambo Superleggera just for something different. I even seriously considered building a serious SLC coupe. But at the end of the day I have been trying to be way more sensible having had my first real serious run in with the law this summer.

I really am more suited to a GT3 mentality wise being a track only guy; but with all my suspension stuff on my TT I do have a Track killer car. Sadly though I live in a city with no track anymore. And the thought of being a roll-on'er or drag ricer makes me want to stab mysef in the eye with a pencil. I just do not know what I am going to do!!!!!!!!!!!
