most motors 2 bar and over do not last long.... its great while it works... I like 1.8 bar which seems to be happy in most cases... for the high boost you need lots of motor work...

As Joe stated.... Bar of boost means nothing with out knowing the size of turbo, intake, head work, cams, type of fuel and ignition. But these are all question for your tuner/builder.

I was just seeing what other people have ran and what their experiences were. I specifically asked about 2 bar, with the possibility of running it. Never said I was. I have just seen from my reading seems to be a level that you want to stay at or below, unless obviously you built the engine for it…..I prefer to keep my complete setup private because of a few a$$holes on this site……only me and my builder and tuner knows exactly, just preference. But I started with just a basic internals build and then I slipped down the slope severally LOL…..

What people are trying to say is that 2bar doesn't mean anything. Turbo's are not all created equal, they will move different amounts of air at the same boost level, and will exhibit different spool characteristics.

I think it's best to decide what power level you want to make, then pick the appropriate turbo to reach that power level. You really want to choose a turbo that will reach your designated power levels while running within the chosen turbo's efficiency range. You will want to learn about turbo compressor maps among other things.

Good luck.

^+1. air pressure isn't air flow.
a gt28 at 30 lbs (2bar) will FLOW a lot less than a gt35 at 2 bar.
same pressure. different flow.
take two balloons. one with a 1/2" diamter, and put a 10lb weight over it, then take another balloon with a 1" diameter, and put the same amount of weight over that.....
hope that makes sense.

High levels of boost start to affect other things. Lifters, valves…..I just was asking for experiences….this isn't about just what turbo and go (thats a given and off topic). Its more about the boost level I am asking and experiences……personally i will never go above 2 bar.

Boost affects "lifters" and "valves"? The only part of the valve train that gets effected by boost is valve spring seat pressure.

Correct. High boost actually affects heads... they lift heads and pressurizes your coolant chambers causing freeze plugs to blow out ....among other issues....trust me I know

Actually its cylinder psi that lifts the head. Cylinder psi is more effected by timing then boost psi, not saying that boost psi is not helping.

Over 2 bar will kill the life of the hydraulic lifters and the boost pressure will start to fight with the valve and try to push it open. Also RPM's will be affected as well.

The stock intake valve seated psi is 100 psi. 28 psi is not that much. also boost psi is only at play when the valve is closed! Boost kill lifters... Never. Spring psi and rpm kill lifters, cam profile does too but I assume stock(ish) cams are being used.. boost psi will not effect rpm either..
