'03 996TT with high mileage - opinions?
I may be selling mine to purchase another home. 01 tip with 72k miles. Silver car at first but now it is professionally plastidipped Flat black, tinted tails, green calipers, very unique. EVOMS tune, new plugs, EVOMS diverter valves, custom exhaust, new battery, new MAF sensor, and in great condition. I just got everything inspected by Porsche dealer and everything checked out great. I would be wanting a hair more than $34k though, but not much more. PM me if you are interested.

What seats do you have? I have owned 2 996 cars - C4 cab & 996TT and love the seats. I drove the cab home from CA and didnt experience and back pains, etc...
I have the power adjustable seats. They are hard and when I get in a comfortable driving position the headrest is far enough back that if I was wearing a helmet it might be comfortable! In town it's ok, but after 60 miles it starts bothering me. I'm use to having support in the upper back and neck. Also long range cruising, I like armrests! It's not near as comfy as my GMC 2500hd for trips!
porsche dealerships use the cpo checklist for any ppi and any good indy will be far more comprehensive in what they look for than a dealership. i woudn't ever trust a dealership to ppi the car unless it was part of the cpo process in which they certify all is within "spec" and you have a two year warranty to fix all of that which they either overlooked? or neglect to find, which can be a lot. believe me.
if you're going to ppi a car ( which is ok but not essential unless you don't know yourself what to look for.. ) then take it to a known porsche indie that knows turbos! dealers are by the book folks and that's it. they once "certified" a car to me that had 2nd gear popout. imagine that!

PPI not essential -- certainly worth $200 bucks to have a professional look at the car. Not a perfect process but lowers the odds of having an undetected issue. Plus, if the car is out of your area, a PPI is a filter -- the PPI may save a plane ticket and a lot of time.
Indy far more comprehensive than a dealer -- depends. I put together (mostly based on a thread on Rennlist) a list of additional, 996tt specific items to check and gave the list to the dealer. I've had recommeded Indy shops provide great as well as marginal PPI's...

i even had a minor skirmish with them over the 2nd gear popout warranty/repair that they didn't "find" or "know of" until they caved. point is, they didn't even find that in their ppi. that was big.
