D2 Forged Wheels
D2 Forged Wheels
I've been talking with Derek at D2 Forged about some wheels for my Turbo. I need some opinions please. Sending someone a couple of thousand to build some wheels is a bit well strange. One thinks about getting ripped off etc. I'm sure this is not the case but I have to ask for opinions from those here who may have bought wheels from them. Please tell me your experiences.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I'm glad to hear this. With all of the BS and rip-offs you have to be careful. It is a decent chunk of change to send. Thanks for the input.

Absolutely, these are good guys. You won't be disappointed.
Hi,
I once wanted some wheels from them that were and still are very beautiful.
Ask for what they state one their website:
I got paperworks that seemed not to be what it should be and I asked back. Their opion was to take the corner weight of the car and divide by 4 to get the strenght a wheel needs to have. Unfortunaly this has nothing to do with what is necessary and I dropped my plan for security reasons.
Just saying. Check what you get and if it's good for what you need.

Testing procedures include in house CAD structural fatigue rendering as well as 3rd party independent testing for: hi-speed stability, Fatigue and Dynamic Durability testing specified by DOT 109, and lateral / radial runout.

No salesperson story. I was stressing the point that I wanted a written document showing the maximum weight for the wheels prior to paying for them. I got it after a few requests. Obviously nobody is asking these questions.
On the rear axle they are too weak. I asked how that could happen and that I am not going to run a car at 320+ km/h with wheels not being able to handle the weight and got the explanation curbweight/4. That was when I decided to stop that project.
That doesn't mean they have a general problem, but you better check the facts.
