Thanks.. Curious to get your opinion about running michelin AS on front with pilots on rear. Previous owner had set up the car like that!

definately a big no no.
reason being the front end of a 996 is light and somewhat unstable as is... putting a sticky rear tire and an all season up front just makes it push more...
if it were a 2 different brands of summer tires that would be ok for the time being, but a different type of compound all together is a big no no.
