2001 Turbo Starting issues and Fuel Gauge

My 2001 Turbo sometimes does not start. I hear a click and nothing else. Sometimes it starts fine and other times there is just a click and the engine doesn't turn over. The battery seems fine and stays on a Porsche battery tender. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also has anyone had any problems with their fuel gauge. Mine does not move from the 3/4 full position. Thanks guys!

First thing to try is thoroughly clean your battery posts. Even it they appear to be clean, take them off and clean them inside and out with some sandpaper.

a perfectly charged battery is so critical to the normal operation of the car, that if you don't know how long its been in the car? i'd change it simply to eliminate that as the cause. a failing battery exhibits the wierdest seemingly inexplicable symptoms. for the 140 bucks +/- it's worth swapping it out. then keep on regularly on the tender. i've found thst even when the tenders says "all green", it often isn't, and perhaps a cel is bad.

the gauge is another story since it only estimates electronically how much is actually IN the tank. not an award winning design, by any stretch. does it EVER see FULL? topping off/not filling all the way, can often give a false reading of remaining fuel owing to the tank design and the float mechanism that tells the guage how much is left and it's often inaccurate.
