Question regarding stereo install

Hello. I had my head unit replaced (CDR 220?, non nav, single DIN) with a Kenwood KIV-BT901. Now when i lock the car, i get the 'error' chrip from the horn. A scan of the car shows Event Codes from the stereo so the error chirp is definitely related to that. The installer is checking on the issue but said the error may be coming from the fact that the car is not recognizing the new stereo and the 'error' is that the factory one is missing. Anyone have this issue and find a solution? Thanks

that is true. stock head unit has a float ground tied into the alarm, no afrermarket units have this capability so the security sees an open ground and cause you to chirp once on lock

IIRC...I installed a stereo in my '02 about 5 years ago.... I got the chirp too--I found the wire that used to be connected to the old stereo (it has a slide-on style clip attachment) and tied it into the ground wire. Thus, the circuit was complete and the chirp went away. It's been 5 years, though, so my memory may be a little hazy
