I am going to try to describe what I am seeing and smelling. In January I noticed that when I had the heat totally off, my windshield would still frost in an area of about 8-10 inches in the center by the vent. I noticed a strange smell as well. I would turn on the defrost and it would take a while to defrost the windshield.
Now with the pollen season, when I start the car you can see a small pollen cloud by the center console. The cloud will just rotate and then disappear after several minutes. Still the unit is on off when this happens. I am not getting any errors, no power loss, and everything with the AC and heat are working fine. What in the heck is going on and what is the fix?

it would be a wild guess here, but wonder if it has to do with your a/c blend door

did you car ever blow out the black insulation from the vents?
