if that hardware/software has all the global changes set up right from the start( I doubt it) then sure all you need is to control fuel, boost, and timing. But there are numerous maf and torque maps that need to be addressed... for example, there are at least 5 fuel maps... a handful of boost maps, on and on...IDk what that program does - Im guessing they modeled it off of EVCs winOLS... but you still have to know what to do with all that... its not like Oh- all I need to know is fuel, timing, and boost. Anyone can learn that in a 4 hour ONLINE class..

Information like this is good for me to hear. I get excited to tinker with things but I'm not an expert. I'd be getting in too deep on my own at this point. Not worth risking a 20k engine lol! I'll enjoy my car for now and when I save some coin I'm sure you'll hear from me wanting your billet upgrade package...
This is software that has put chris green at the top of the ET list of Porsche's in the US... If you change to a AlphaN tune (mafless) there is less fueling maps. You can log the car and play the log over your maps. That means it will high light the area of the map that is being affected so you know exactly what to change. The truth will set you free. Remember this, you buy this tuning hardware/software ONCE, you have unlimited access to your car for life..

Markski's comment, "if that hardware/software has all the global changes set up right from the start( I doubt it) then sure all you need is to control fuel, boost, and timing" made me worried I'd have to fill in the maps from square one i.e. blank. Are you saying I can plug into the ECU, download ALL maps accurately then log and edit? This is how I've tuned in the past... I have no reason to mess with cold start, low load fuel and timing trims. Just the few cells that are being used during WOT.
"Remember this, you buy this tuning hardware/software ONCE, you have unlimited access to your car for life.." - This is why I'm excited about this product! I'm good friends with a local tuner. I have access to his help and an AWD mustang dyno. He just hasn't tuned Porsche's yet.. Only Subaru, EVO and GTRs.
Fortune favors the brave! But screw this up and a fortune is also gonna be what it costs you to fix it.
If you're the kind of person that usually finds the limits of things by breaking them, then I'd suggest you take your tuner friend up on his help and expertise.
Good luck and have fun!

I came from an EVO too, and have done plenty of tuning with DSMLink, ECUFlash, AEM, and Motec. If you are relatively competent with ECUFlash I can't imagine you having too much of a problem.
Too bad they don't have these for a 997.
