Driving at 200mph
Will do! I'm doing ERP toe links because supposedly they eliminate the flex. I was told there was a TON of flex at higher speeds...
Be prepared for the GT2 to be very light in the front at those speeds. That big *** wing in the back isn't for show, it's going to be pushing down on the back of the car.
Do you get any practice runs? 160 is about as far as I go on track but those are hardly 2.5mile straights.

There arn't any practice runs prior. But I'm considering having a buddy with a walkie-talkie go there some night and make sure theres no traffic.
Talk to EVOMS or Todd at Protomotive about correct suspension settings and things that can be beefed up to make it less squirrely at that speed. GT2's are not known to be stable up at that speed. Ask ATOMIC Z who took the slower of his two GT2's to 206 or 207mph at the TEXAS MILE. HE said "Never Again". Do your research because you have no friends above 200 mph.

Thanks for the advice. I will ask Todd his opinion.
OP...good luck and please record this! I'd say with a clear stretch of road, proper alignment and tires, and smooth inputs...you should be in for a very fun top speed run. I swung a 180mph run recently and it felt extremely planted. Loose grip on the wheel.
Would you mind elaborating? I'm genuinely curious.

I have done + 300 kmh several times with 996TT. Only upgrades are UMW tune and PSS10 suspension. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Its not a big deal if the road is smooth... like it usually is in unrestricted autobahn in Germany.
Not many techniques recuired, just drive and relax. Not scary at all. Proper aligment, wheel balance and pressure will play a great role.
This picture is from Garmin GPS. 316kmh = 196,35 mph.

Yeah. My original idea was to be very soft on the breaks, throttle, and steering. A sudden movement at that speed sounds dangerous.

While he's sure there is no traffic can he be sure, can you be sure, there'll be no critters?
Even a small critter darting out in front of you might have to automatically wrenching the wheel to swerve.
Even if you have the presence of mind to leave the wheel alone hitting a small critter at speed (let alone a frickin' deer or something bigger) and you'll know it.

First I would do all the tech checks suggested in the posts generated here and ride alone. If your with new tires even rated at 186, touching 200 for a second and coming back down won't do anything IMHO you'll be over 185 for no more than 30 seconds.
I don't know the difference in ground clearance between a TT and a GT2 so...
I have hit 190 in a couple 996 Turbos.
-A bone stock 2001 (Seal Gray one) it was not a confidence inducing ride felt like it was going to take off. The nose got really... REALLY light. The rear spoiler was deployed.
-I now have a 2002 (Black one) that has a remapped ECU ~515HP and is lowered from 5 1/4" to 4" with after market suspension and 19" BBS wheels. Also my rear spoiler is disengaged in the resting position (not like the picture below).
I ran it up to 190 a couple weeks ago and it felt solid as a rock same as a Lambo Gallardo I had a couple years back that I took a pic at 190 on the way to 198 that felt solid as a rock.
I think the difference in the feel of the TT's is that the one I currently have is lowered and mostly I think that not having the stock spoiler deployed leverages/weights down the rear of the car a lot less diminishing the "flightyness" of the nose, the suspension being stiffer also diminishes that leveraged light nose flightyness I would venture.
Anyway be safe and enjoy yourself.

Some people have removed the rear wing for top speed runs. Mine has been off for years, no down side just under 170. Some may add their experience on this.
Road surface may be a huge factor. I have tried to eclipse 175 several times on 2 lane desert roads with no traffic at all for several miles. Above 120-130 the car is undulating side to side and bouncing around too much to keep in my lane. This is because of the 60 mph speed limit, poor road base, and bumpyness of the surface. Trying several times one day I quickly saw 160 and had to back out of it.
Same roads on motorcycles is much easier as you only bounce up and down, not side to side. With adjustable dampening you could soften the settings which may make handling better on a rough surface. I've done just under 170 on I-80, smooth as glass no issues.
At any rate sounds fun, enjoy.

Yessir. I will be running with a hans device too. I just had my new rollbar put in. Its a proper half cage that mounts to the struts and to the floor. The floor had custom brackets welded in so it was mounted properly. The whole bar is custom.
