First Track Event with '02 996TT

I've been track driving for 25 years with PCA, SCCA and the occasional enduro kart

Recently sold my '06 987S and got a 2002 996TT. The car was a street and garage queen but came with KWV3's (standard issue KW springs), GT3 Front Brakes and an FVD Tune. Never tracked. I was eager to take it out, and got some excellent advice here and on Rennlist about the basic prep needed.

I got a set of TPC swaybars, which appear to be copies of the 996 GT3 bars. Installed those with full soft front/hard rear, installed GT2 brake cooling ducts F/R, changed the pads and fluid and put a BK harness truss and my race seats in. Put GT2 sized NT-01's on stock rims and lowered the car a bit. No race alignment, street settings.

So off to NJMP I go this past Wednesday. Ran a wet first session with PSM on and enjoyed the 4WD on the wet track. Did manage to break in the pads and got green fade from the stock GT3 front pads I used.

Sessions 2-4 were dry and overcast, temps in the high 70's. I enjoyed the car in the dry even more than the wet - nice to have enough power to stay with the GT3's that were not too modded themselves.

Yes, it did understeer, and it cost me significant time in some areas, but I managed to get consistent 1:14's when traffic was clear so I am calling that a win for the first time out.

It felt to me that the car would be almost neutral with a proper track alignment, I may take that step before the next outing.

Here are a few video's of the car doing it's thing:

What browser?

The actual top speed is 145 per GPS data, but the software that overlays the speedo seems to lag a bit.

And I can't speak to the Vette, other than to say it has an awesome power/weight ratio.
