996TT to 997TT?

Have: 996TT. Really love it but the 997 is also pretty damn nice and the prices are down a bit. What are the major differences here and do the 997TT suffer the same problems? Is it worth getting a 997.2 over a 997.1 or are the differences just electronics and some suspension tuning and not worth the coin? Finally, does the 997.2 have a different engine from the 997.1/996?

Me? I rally like front end on 996tt. I prefer more boxy look over 997 but that's just me. If you have low millage 996 I say keep it. You never know what is waiting for you after buying used pcar

I would buy a 997tt but wouldn't trade my car for it, if that makes sense.

It makes sense given.most of the changes are cosmetic.
As for me,y choice would be 997.1t for the last of the mezger engines ( because I believe in the durability of them ) or straight up to the 997 turbo s or better still the 991t. Say what we will about the pdk +/- whatever..
Its rare or non existent for the next iteration not to be an "improvement", over the last.

Just really not crazy about the 997.2tt. Treading water over the 997.1tt. Its a good one for sure.

Unless I am being paid to race I will never own an automatic in my super car. I don't care if it faster. I remember when I was in high school I worked at a Porsche dealer detailing cars. My friend's father (who was wealthy) owned a Rolls and complained that he wanted a 911 but they didn't sell them in automatics. I know that automatics have saved many manufacturers by allowing them to sell tons more cars then before but I was happy he couldn't purchase a Porsche 911, or any Ferrari, Lambo, etc. I felt that a driver who appreciated how to drive should own those cars. While this is an outdated opinion it is remarkable that now you cannot get a stick. I will be buying American shortly.

The motor is the same. So unless you're talking VTG turbos.. I was referring to the differences BTW the 996t and the 997.1T. I'll say it again. The changes are primarily cosmetic.

The changes are almost entirely cosmetic. Only very small changes were made mechanically between the cars. It wasn't until 997.2 things changed from the 996.

I personally will wait for the 997.2's to fall into the low 50's just like I did with my 996.

sidenote- I also will never buy a sports car of this caliber with an automatic trans.

Curious why you would buy the 997.2 over the .1? I would think the main reason would be PDK in the .2 which you pretty much just said you wouldn't want!
