plugs don't degrade over TIME LOL. they degrade over sparking 
but any car that is tuned will burn thru em faster than one that isn't.. or for that matter one that sits. i'm gonna guess that absent symptoms of bad spark? they're probably ok after just sitting lol
i change mine religiously at roughly every 10k miles but wouldn't hesitate to change them more often if my car did... hesitate that is
