Tim941nyc's 996tt daily driver build thread..
Hey 6spd,
I decided that it was time to get into a 996 turbo for daily duty. With all my experience I had the most enjoyment with 3076 turbos on my other turbo so with that in mind here we go with details... I got a call about a turbo that was for sale that was a rolling car minus engine/trans and a few other pieces, they decided to pass on it and I thought why not... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tor-trans.html After some back and forth a deal was struck and I had to send front struts then the car was in a trailer to its new home :D... http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps367f6606.jpg On July 17th the car shows up and I get it off and start going over whats there and what is missing.. engine/ trans center radiator clutch slave intercoolers and ducting front bumper front struts (sent to previous owner) 3 out of the 4 wheel liners radio climate control coolant pipes to the center radiator where cut  brakes where toast I started to map out how I was going to put this car together and started ordering parts.... GT2 slave/master repair the cut coolant pipes front rad/brackets/hardware/ducting both front wheel liners and one rear front bumper cover all covers for under body For the powerplant I put a 15k mile 02' turbo engine and trans and put a dm flywheel with a gt2 disc with a 999 pplate to mate them up. I did a true gt2/3 slave by drilling and tapping the trans and using the gt2/3 clutch fork. I was looking for K24s to put 68mm hta wheels in by my friends a Forced Performance but a set of A28's with hta 71mm compressor wheels crossed my path. I bought them and bolted them to the stock headers that I ported. I put 1100cc FIC injectors with a stock 3.8 bar fpr. I added a walbro 450 intank with true -6 all the way to the fuel rail. I left the stock 996t intake manifold and T/B but removed the secondary air pump and blocked up its piping. I will be tuning this car with Eurodyne maestro. I made an exhaust and wye pipe and have ETS intercoolers on there way. I am missing the turbo oil tanks but they will be here soon, thanks to DC Automotive! The brake rotors where badly grooved and pads where cardboard thin so off the shelf came my old pccb's. Here are some more pic's http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps81f6eb5a.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps31edc34f.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...psbe94d21d.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...psf70fadbb.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1d26f4bf.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...psf35e5de7.mp4 I did not tune it yet so the ecu thinks it is controlling stock injectors and not 1100cc ones:eek:. Stay tuned for updates... |
With all your knowledge and connections buying this car was a smart buy= should be interesting.

I want your life for a day, bro.
Are you keeping it AWD? -V |
Looks interesting. Definitely interested in hearing your impressions on the maestro tuning.

I got your pm a while back, hope all is well with that terrible situation. |
Sounds like a fun project and should be a hell of a DD when done. Interested to see how it all comes together.
