Once martial law has been fully implemented, many of us will look back on this level of encroachment as simply the beginning of the end.

Tyranny is a slow and insidious state of affairs.

You are not saving a load of hassle, only postponing it. Registering the car out of the state in which you live/work and drive could render the insurance invalid if you have to file a claim.

Also, I suspect one of your neighbors will turn you in. They see the car with out of state plates parked at your house day after day… someone will call the hotline and turn you in.

OP PM'd on option

Visual inspection is subjective. The technician has the option to pass it or not

Photochop! As a true Scotsman, I'm too cheap to pay extra $$ for a personalized plate

And if anyone from CARB is reading this, since importimg my car from out of state I have reflashed the ECU with the factory map...

California sucks for many many reasons.. This being one of them. As stated before passing the visual test depends on who's looking and their mood. I had one place fail me and another pass me, try another location.

Yup. Completely the opposite of Larimer County in Northern Colorado. When I lived there a few years back, they actually did away with emissions testing as over 99.9% of the vehicles were passing and they figured the benefits of testing did not outweigh the costs involved. Now that's applying logic to politics... Incredible!!!!

I replaced my rear deck lid with a GT2. I called the dealership to get new emission stickers. Price $180.00!!!

Using a heat gun to peel off the old stickers from the plastic fan shroud will be my first effort.

holy crap. i hope you were just being proactive! they couldn't have known it wasn't the oem fitment.. could they!? are those the stickers that say something about the cat system??

nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution "these days". i wouldn't want much in the engine comp to look aftermarket if possible. guess i'll cover up the lettering on my evoms dv's lol

The whole emissions system too!

I am going to stop by a smog shop today and see if there is an issue or not.

The smog shops are under very intense scrutiny. I know of a shop that "looked the other way" and was fined twice and lost their license. The $100K fine was a big hit to say the least.
