IPD 74mm Plenum w 997TT TB ?? any downside?

Hi folks. i have most bolt-on's that bring me to about 475-500rwhp and i'm looking for that extra 30-35 that will be achieved with this simple bolt on mod.

i wanted to ask of those that have done it, if there are any downside issue(s) i should be aware of. my tune and 5 bar fpr will support it, as is, and i don't think i'm missing anything (?) and injectors will also probably be in my future. for now, just the plenum and larger tb.

can anyone offer any advice? i would appreciate it. thanks!

plenum and tb will only gain you spool and thorque down low ,get some injectors and add 1-2psi boost ;-)

wouldn't i then need another tune once i add injectors? i'm at 1.3 now and trying to maximize what i have lol. i figure this is the next logical step for the car without going nuts. thanks for the advice.

what your setup? clutch ?

16/24's tuned w/ new oem sachs w gt2 disc

I'm not sure plenum and TB will add 30 whp to your car. You are smoothing out the air flow to TB and allowing in what air your 16/24 are pushing through the plumbing. I think you'll see a gain in throttle response. Anymore than that and you have to change more plumbing

y pipe?

HIX Aug 22, 2014 09:03 AM

Y Pipe is a waste of money. If you havn't done Intercoolers I would look there, and inlet pipes.

rxbike Aug 22, 2014 09:12 AM

^^ By plumbing I meant intercooler and if you are going to be doing that injectors would be a good item to add. To make the power you want, those things are needed since at 1.3 bar and a tune, your injectors are working at max capacity and possibly pushed above it, which means shortened life

i have the usual bolt ons to support the 16/24's incl ic's/5bar/1.0 wgs and dv's. etc. wasn't gonna do y-pipe. just thinkin the larger plenum w the 997tb. then possibly injectors down the road. but the larger plenum is really the next step and last thing i can think of for any significant gains that again, will simply bolt on.

why does anyone believe i won't see any gains?

rxbike Aug 22, 2014 10:18 AM

I think you'll see gains but not 30-35 whp. That is a lot. As I said before you are probably at your max injector duty cycle. You are trying to provide more air but without fuel, you will exercise your wastegate or depending on tune, cause lean situations that are not bueno for your motor.
Injectors and a re-tune should give your car what it needs and a happier car in the long run also

mtlsp Aug 22, 2014 10:33 AM

you need to retune to calibrate the pnenum $$... and there is no gain up top!only thorque down low to stress rods! unless you go for 700whp with build engine++! many thread talk about it... just get some 1000cc injectors + e85 +1-2psi :-)

i'm not gonna re-tune but i am probably going to add injectors next time i get in there for plugs/coils etc. i'm gonna see what just the plenum/tb combo will do for me. i think what i have will support that and the added flow certainly can't "hurt". or so i am told. we shall see. the car's pretty damn happy as it is lol

i appreciate your input.

that's more than i want/need. but i am told by techs the ecu will adapt to the larger plenum with nothing other than 50 miles +/- of hard drving to reset.

do you know differently?

What tune and other 'bolt-ons' do you on your car now?
