Wow. Ugly port job on that middle cylinder. Needs some hand blending/finishing for sure.

In all seriousness, sorry for your situation, and good luck with your replacement motor.

When I disassembled the engine, I took off the wiring harness and fuel rails as a unit. Messing around in the garage tonight, I noticed that one of the fuel injectors was disconnected. It happened to be the one going to the bad cylinder. I could have accidentally disconnected it when I took the wiring harness off, but it just struck me as coincidental that it was that particular one. If it was off when the engine was last running, surely I would have noticed, right? Could this be the smoking gun? Wouldn't it have thrown a CEL? Odd.

It may have came of quickly but if it was off for any length of time your car wouldn't have been running as strong as in video.

If no fuel was getting into that cylinder then it would have just "been along for the ride" and probably safer than the rest. No fuel = no detonation, no pressure on rod, etc. Probably just a coincidence but even if it were unplugged that wouldn't cause the damage on those awful pictures. Sorry for your loss but I'm glad you are moving forward with another engine. Better luck this time

I removed my engine & trans from my previous 996TT a few times.

Do you need help?

I live in Buckhead.

Lysol....I would love help! If nothing else, I would love the company and advice. I am compiling a parts list now and should have everything here by next week. I am shooting for the weekend of Sept 27-28 to install. Shooting you a pm! Thanks!

Nope....Spec Clutch called on Thursday to let me know they were waiting on a part for my clutch/flywheel, and would not ship until Monday. It did give me time to complete the GT2 clutch conversion. Looks like I will try again this weekend if I can find some help???? Anyone??
