Navigation update?

Hi Everyone,

For those with a 996tt, if one were to add an aftermarket in-dash nav system that has touchscreen, bluetooth, updated nav, etc. is it required that the car have the OEM nav to begin with? Or can the new in-dash nav system be added onto a vehicle without the OEM nav? Will extra labor costs be involved in the one without OEM nav?

Reason I'm asking is b/c I noticed the HVAC controls differ for the 996tt with and without OEM nav. Thanks.
