Is it just me?But I think Baby Jesus throws up in his mouth a little and cries every time someone turns a race track inspired car into a drag race car!

My goal is to run low 9s... unfortunately I need a hard core cage and I made a removable chute... if I didn't have to do it I would never spend the extra money( a lot of it)... I did have a 4 point as is... but even those who go for the texas events usually also extensive cage work as well and some have chutes... in the end it is also about safety, running on balloons with little if any sidewall is not fun... not to bring up Eddie Bello but things can go wrong really fast even for those most experienced...

was watching a 2r gallardo running 195 mph in texas invitational video today. he had shorts and a shirt on with a helmet and reg seat belt. if things had gone sideways it would have been ugly. don't forget to protect your body with hans and fire suit as well . race quip has some inexpensive suits, gloves and shoes that meet all sf 3 and 5 ratings
Drag strips have walls that tend to cause more damage than runway events. A turbo Gallardo spun off the track this year at TI. It got dirty and after a break to catch his breath, the owner was back out doing his 180+ runs. Last year a 996TT blew a tire and spun at 180 and he stayed on the track. Neither one of those instances would have been pretty at a drag strip. I'm not sure I would do 200 without a cage, but Autobahn speeds seem ok, until they're not.

WOW, awesome job Mark your car is a beast! Hard work is paying up. Hope to see you get in the 8's some day. Enjoy in good health!!!
Thank you. 8s are hard although I know what what needs to be done. For now a 9.3 sec is the Goal and with the last shake down pass at 9.6 I think we can manage to do better.

Good points. The TT UGR that went airborne a few years back at the "Texas Mile" would have been effed at a drag track without safety gear. People spend >> $100k on engine builds and stuff, spend another $4000 on helmets, gloves, balaclavas etc.
GL Markski, so exciting..... the fact that a Porsche is not designed for drag racing but can is the best bit.
The pioneers were the ones with arrows in their back who reaped all of the rewards
a little sneak peek and almost done will have swing our bars...

lets not forget about the lambo that barrelrolled at the mile 3 maybe 4 yrs ago, the camaro that caught on fire at 200 mph at the mile a couple yrs ago and the corvette that broke a rear wheel at the mile at 200+ and flipped a half dozen times. it doesn't matter were the event takes place, half mile, mile, 1/4 mile or road course. wrecking at 150mph+ without the proper safety equipment can be deadly
