New wheels
incredible, that my experience is the diametric opposite of yours. they don't work on mulholland hwy/piuma/stunt rd etc or the "snake". i am 100% certain of that.. in relative terms,.. e.g. vs 18's. they.. just.. don't. danger danger will robinson lol
but i'd welcome the chance to a/b them both, to show you they won't
you will lose dental work riding 19's up/down these mtn.'s. on flat streets city streets? sure, np. i can see that. if i was running around beverly hills i can see running 19's without issue.. until you get up the hill to mulholland
yes, it seems tires will always be the bane of our cars' existence. truly sucks the choices.

For 19's, choose tires that have a decent sidewall. For any suspension, make sure it's not lowered to the point you will hit bump stops on compression.
There is more to it than just a black and white 18's vs 19's. Many factors are in play such as tire selection and suspension setup.

agree. my experience was limited to yet in opposition to ttpopo's since i was also on v12's with 19's. again, not to "demonize" ( xlnt choice of words btw ) 19's but they cannot compare to 18's on a properly setup car in hard twists. they just can not. the only thing we might do is argue the finer points of one vs another

Either way, I got these 20" Pilots I have to apply to san Diego streets...
^ you'll have to take me at my word, there is no issue with my MO30's
but 19's DID rub at hard lock. that was ( i am sure ) the lowering springs.
i may never get coilovers
in the hope i may remain contrarian
20s! lol. youre a kidder

The 20s are on the GT Sport. Porsche would Never use 20" on a sports car
...
Oh waait!
:-)
I have run the following setups on my car:
18's with Hankook V12's with H&R springs (how I bought the car).
19's with MPSS's with H&R springs.
19's with MPSS's with stock springs.
19's with MPSS's with KW V3's.
Unlike you, I didn't care for the Hankooks. They were fine when just driving around and I seem to even recall decent straight line traction, but when I got on the twisties they just felt a little vague.
The biggest reason I went to 19's was so I could use MPSS's. I just love that tire and don't think there is a better street tire. Sticky, predictable, long life, good when wet, and light weight.
My benchmark road is a nice local road full of hairpins followed by short straights. The hair pins often have a bit of camber. Sometimes gravel gets washed on it. Some of them have a bit of washboard effect. Some of the wider curves have bumps mid turn that can really upset a poorly setup car. With my current setup my car sticks tight and is very predictable.
What it really comes down to, IMO, when we are only comparing a 1" difference on wheels (not like 18's vs 24's) is proper tire selection. I've had cars with larger wheels but not enough sidewall before and just about every time I would take a turn hard I would think, "this would be so much better with a proper tire setup". I never say that with my current setup.

I went to 19's with MPSS 295/245. I'm not a 9/10's guy out on the street, but this combo on 19's seems to have all the handling and comfort of the 18's.
well, different platforms allow for different wheel sizes I'm sure..and re:truth, I would never try to make a case that shocks and springs might equal coilovers, but.. wait! lol.
I only know from what feels right, and have never felt the mo30 setup to be lacking, or a half measure/compromise though that is what it must be. they are after all, just bilstein/Porsche's "sport" setup pre x73?. but I take my cars handling and responsiveness very seriously and if the coilovers might be a better setup, it would be a surprise to me since if something isn't "right" I cant imagine what it might be. but it's certainly within the realm of possibility! coilovers are on gt3's so that's all I would need to convince me they are "proper".. if I had issue with just struts and springs that is
I just chuckle when some guys have $4k coilovers and never leave the hi-way, but all is good.
My comments were regarding all variables staying the same...
Its theoretical...same tires, same suspension, same everything. Ultimately you want to set up your tires and suspension for what you have...
Either way, I'm not terribly sure a "regular" driver would tell much difference.

i guess that depends on the base color of the car!? ( nvr mind, didn't see the facetious "wink" lol ) i hate that bronze, personally, but that matters not one whit! all that matters is that we like what we do to our cars... e.g. i liked my brushed silver f14's so much they are now plastidipped black!
i want those cf10's sinking got so bad my stomach is in knots ha but then i'd have to erase a cpl thousand anti-19" wheel posts haha. just.. can't.. do.. it
but dayum, those are one of the best lookin wheels for this car ( next to.. or not counting ( pick one ) oem gt3's of course

Heh, they deleted the purple wheels - oh well! while not a color I'd want on my car it did show off the beautiful work their powder guys can do. Some of the powder work I've seen of late is flat out stunning with crazy candies and deep interesting colors. Even if it's not a color I'd choose it shows a level of quality work. Bronze is probably what I'll use on my silver car - eventually. Can't quite swing wheels just yet and I'll stick to 18s too!
^^ lol. amazing what they can do these days isn;t it? i'm STILL not over my fascination with plastidip! just bought 3 more cans, and i'm no huffer
i'll find somewhere to spray it. theres gotta still be some sliver on the car somewhere!
