Just rock the stock transmission and start saving now. Going in to do just third gear is going to be a waste of money.....

with that kind of build the only thing that makes sense is to have guard or the other couple of known reputable re-builders to build you g50 box with custom gearsets suited to your want/needs. i would think.

http://www.guardtransmissionllc.com/...2gt3cup-gears/

i'd ring up matt at guard or roger at cms.. one of those guys. they'll give you the time and you'll know what to do or not do. but as wealth manager has just pointed out, 3rd gear while the oft used gear and possibly weak point isn't worth going in for alone.

a 900rwhp build,.. it would seem to me ( and i know very little ) deserves if not "needs" its own customized g50 box.

Agree you need a serious build for the Hp your shooting for. Your doing the engine first class might as well go all in.

Regardless if your transmission breaks on you.. From what I was told you wouldn't damage the actual transmission itself.. Just the gearings and mainshaft.. So if it happens to fail the parts that brake are going to have to replaced in order to have a built tranny..
you might want to rethink this logic. garth broke the mainshaft and punched a hole right thru the case. cost him 4500$ for a housing.

Thats not really the norm though it seems. Most people are shearing teeth off the gears on average. also matters on style of racing. If you do a lot of 1/4 mile stuff and launch a lot then I feel the consequences are showing a lot worse inrelation to how it breaks.

1050 rwhp affects every component on the car. this forum is more geared towards drag racing than road racing so hard launches are the norm at the track. nobody wins by babying the car off the line. hard launches = broken parts. i have broken 3 axles so far. its my mechanical fuse so i don't trash the trans. 5000 rpm 2 step launches aren't for the weak of heart

yes they do. its a new form of racing for those afraid to launch hard or fear breaking parts. take your car to the dragstrip and launch it hard. any weak spot in your driveline will show up in short order

This is not a 1/4 mile car in my opinion, its more suited for high end highway pulls.

If I was 1/4 mile racing I would do a custom fox body build personally or maybe a camaro.
