Which Water Pump is Best?

I am replacing a couple things while my engine is out and the water pump is on the list. However, when I look on Pelican Parts site I see there are four pumps and I don't know which is best/the best value. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated and the options are:

1. OEM Porsche @ $354.00 Composite Impeller
2. Pierburg (OEM Supplier) @ $324.25 Composite Impeller
3. Geba @ $227.00 Metal Impeller
4. Graf @ $97.00 Brass Impeller

It would seem that OEM is out given that Pierburg is the maker so they are identical, which leaves the debate of metal vs composite and if metal, then brass or 'metal' (which I assume is aluminum).

Thank you!

get the genuine Porsche pump, quite a number of reports of early failures with other brands(including 'OEM')

Fwiw. I replaced a pump on my boxster because it was seeping. I went through 3 aftermarket a pumps trying to get a good deal before o bought a porsche one and it sealed right up.

If I had to guess, to me it looked like the aftermarket machining process on the mating side had grooves in it where as the oem was nearly a mirror polish.

Porsche is the way I would go and the new composite impellers do not break like the older plastic. Another subject that can be argued forever lol.

When my 03 Turbo needed a new water pump I just had the tech install whatever the parts manager shoved over the parts counter. The stock water pump lasted around 120K miles. The only problem was it was found to be leaking from the seal.

The factory water pump in the Boxster lasted 172K miles. This water pump let me know it was bad from the grumbling noise that it made as the engine warmed up.

Impellers were fine.

The trick is to keeping the impellers intact is to recognize a bad water pump -- from its noise or if the thing is quiet by leak sign -- and get it changed out right away rather than to continue to drive the car.

I'm going to go with OEM to ensure I don't have any figment issues or potentially low quality bearings.
