How much to ask for my car?
Thanks for all the tips. I actually thought you guys were joking about selling it for parts. Now I can't tell. Problem is I would need to pay someone to uninstall the old parts, buy replacement parts and then pay to have them reinstalled. Can't see that working. So all you part vultures are SOL.
Not really in a rush to sell so I guess I will offer it at $59g and see what happens.

! i'm sure we all meant if you still had the old parts at least. yeah, not worth it to BUY old/new parts then put back to stock ! gl whichever way you sell it.
yes, we are all part vultures LOL

I'll say it again, awesome car. If I hadn't just purchased mine I would definitely be interested in yours.
To the OP, if you truly don't care when you sell it; put it up for sale for what you think it's worth. If you have the right modifications and style, you may just find the right buyer. As most of us know modifications do not add value in resale but I will say with certain buyers it can.
I know it isn't apples to apples but this 2002 996TT sold for $72K just recently. Yes it's a paint to sample so it's rare but it just goes to show the possibilities.

I agree, in your case it's not practical to restore to stock. Just be patient to find the right buyer and you will get your price. People often perceive value with price, ask more, you can always come down. In your case, start at $69.9K.
Nice to see these cars on their way up.

nick, it's a 996 turbo with 39k miles. at 69 anything you're well into 997tt territory. that blue ruf turbo of 911al's was far from the norm. truly an exception, and with all due respect to the op and his well sorted car, 69k is dreamland at 40k miles.
For once we agree on price lol! People want these cars stock and aren't willing to pay for mods most of the time, 911als car was an exception and he came way down from original price. I believe 55k is a fair price all things considered.
Here are a couple of interesting data points
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291387928693
2003 X50
35k miles
lots of Ruf parts w/ invoices
Bidding is currently at $51,100 (reserve not met) with nearly 2 days left
I watch 996s fairly closely on ebay. This is definitely outside the norm for a typical 996, but shows what is possible for a car with the "right" mods.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161570541633
2005 TurboS (X50 and PCCB)
Cabriolet
15k miles
stock
Sold for $60k
These are 2 of the strongest prices I have seen on ebay for 996s. Rarely does bidding break $40k. Not that the cars may not be worth it, but most people bidding are not local so they only bid up to what would be considered a "good deal", leaving a cushion for unexpected expenses or condition not being as good as advertised.

To be honest, if it were my car I was selling, I would put stock bumpers back on and sell the techart ones separately. If you're lucky, a yellow TT owner may even trade + cash. A stock appearing car appeals to a larger crowd.

15k mile S cab vs a highly modded 996 tt with 39/40k miles of the op's would explain that price differential..and I'm not sure a non "genuine" numbered RUF turbo ( wasn't 911als" also a "proper" ruf 550 car? ) is an apples to apples comparison either. the ebay guy will probably take high 50's for his car.
