Trackday Insurance?

Now that I am finally looking to participate in regular trackdays/PCA DE events, I was wondering if anyone offers special insurance in case of an accident at the track? I have heard of some people who have been able to convince their regular insurance carrier to cover there track mishap, but was under the impression this wasn't standard practice. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Buck 80, there are companies that will do track day insurance. And...I can't remember the name of the company! If you are a PCA member there is a company that advertises in the "Panorama" which is the monthly magazine from the club. Essentially you set an agreed upon value and the cost of the insurance is about 0.5% to 1% of this as I recall. But it is out there.

Hazrati on this board has experience with track insurance. I think you pay a certain amount and that covers up to like 5 events per year. It is somewhat expensive if you only do 1-2 so you may as well do as many as you can up to five. Not having insurance is costly if you have a mishap. Some companies will cover you if it is a driving school but I would clarify with your carrier before hand. If you find a great deal let us all know.

My insurance company (21st Century) said they covered it as long as it was a DE (Drivers Education) and not a timed event.
