) the C6 Z is such a beast, as it is going to be my next car.
We need to see a 550 hp ruf vs. C6 Z..

As far as how fast it is, the Z did wax me from 20-120. I have an Upsolute chip, Fabspeed exhaust, and BMC filter. He beat me by abotu two car lengths, and still seemed to be pulling when we let off. I rode in it too, and the car is very nice, and sounds incredible!

So even though your 996 turbo has 500-520 hp, the Zo6 with 500(?) hp is faster? Is that because of weight and gearing?

Probably the weight playing a big role, gearing might also because it rev's fairly high for a vette and no turbo spool up.. I think It would have been a better race on the highway in a higher rpm/gear start, 20mph is so slow and hard to get the awd tt moving

Yea 20mph start in the turbo is not an ideal start. If you are in 1st and gun it you will have to shift almost instantly or hit the rev limiter. I think 1st gear in the turbo is too damn short. I guess it's just to get the car moving...

just add the gold chain to your daily getup and you've got it down R
Yeah, the start probably wasn't ideal, but he didn't want to go from a dead stop, and 20 was what I managed to negotiate. lol I did have to shift almost immediately, and the did pull on me when I shifted, but the Z was just faster. His gears are longer, so he didn't have to shift as often. I think if my car weighed what his does, the race might have been a dead heat, but it doesn't. Turbo lag also played a role in it. When he hit the gas, his car went, and mine took a second to spool up. It doesn't take long for a 500hp car to get away from you if you're going nowhere. Oh, and don't worry about me. I've already been on the horn getting some bigger turbos, so hopefully the outcome will be different next time.
I'm definitely not used to losing races! Especially to stock cars!

Yes...a 20 mph start in 1st is just about as bad a position as you can be in driving a Turbo - it's *way* short from there to the 1-2 shift, and you're not going to build much boost (if any) along the way to that shift. Considering that, the Porsche did a darn good job.

Actually, we weren't disappointed- the 996TT platform has been around for awhile, and the fact that a Turbo S or very lightly modded Turbo can be somewhat close to a C6Z is testimonial to what a great platform the 996TT is/was. Both the 996TT and the C6Z have tremendous modification potential and when lining up against either car, one shouldn't take the race lightly. Also, Big Carrot has had 700+ rwhp Vipers- he knew what he was getting into. Andi had a 650+ rwhp Supra in the past as well. Everyone in the group last saturday night is a true car enthusiast- there were no hard feelings, and all were happy for Andi to have such a great car. Our cars ain't too bad either.

Now next time, get that video camera and get this on tape for our viewing pleasure..
