Driver side mirror.. what's the extra green/yellow wiring for?

Ordered some extra mirrors for the housing and noriced the new mirror has less wiring but also no black plastic surround like mine; definitely different. The extra wired version is off my 04 996tt. My guess is the other mirror is off a 986.

They all have the connects for the brown wiring that I assume are defrosters.

But then again...what are the extra green/yellow wires for on mine? What's with the surround in the front side? Why doesn't my passenger side mirror have the surround or extra wiring?

TIA

I don't have much of a valid answer for you, but my drivers side mirror has the plastic surround whereas my passenger side does not. I often wondered what the deal was with that. But with your post here, I think I might have figured it out. The drivers side mirror has a blue tint to it compared to the passenger side.
Perhaps the reason behind this is the auto dimming feature. Perhaps it's a dual layer mirror with the liquid stuff in between ( same stuff that sometimes leaks out of the rear view mirror) Which might explain the extra wiring. Ties into the auto dimming feature of the rear view mirror. ???

This is the wiring going to the driver side mirror for a 2002 + TT and a 2001TT. You will found your answer....Both seems the same...
