To me it just doesn't seem to fit the 996 interior. I think it looks acceptable but I am not a wood fan and also think it makes it look dated. And as far as color matching-thats why I always need pics since I cannot picture what it would look like. I know back in the day looking to buy a 300ZX twin turbo the kid had paint matched interior and I refused to buy it because of it. Looked horrible and cheap to me.
I agree with that. I think too much in the car would not look good. There was a yellow for sale down in FL that I wasnt interested in because they body matched the interior. I think accents are good but only in certain areas. Mine has color matched center and seat backs and I think that it looks good but I wouldnt want anything more on the interior.
I still think the best option would be to buy up a couple ebay pieces and have them painted different ways to see how you like it. That way you keep your original in stock shape and you can see how you like it. Might cost a bit of extra money but you dont have to worry about not being able to go back to stock.
Another option is to have it wrapped. I met a guy at Pav's who had a 2010 M3 who had a guy wrap his wood accents and it came out amazing. Very clean and professional. He said it only cost him $200 to do.
I have an orient red metallic with savannah interior and the lovely wood trim I would like to do this on a budget first off and secondly really not sure what would go well in place of the wood. With the color combo I really don't think carbon would look much better and I am not a big fan of it anyway. Any suggestions?
We basically have the same car. I could not stand the wood interior as I did not think it was correct for the type of car that it is. I have a spare transmission tunnel piece and will also match it in the same silver. My car has been updated with a double din alpine and the cup holders are gone.

Any idea what vendor or type of vendor may do that type of work? Maybe a company that does full body wraps on cars?

This is what I did to mine...
Thanks for the pics. That helps tremendously. I think a combo maybe between the two might be an option.

When I do it, I use real carbon fiber and epoxy resin to make it have the right deep clear look and maintain the durability. Real CF can really take a beating. I don't have the OEM CF, so I can't compare the OEM look with the CF wrap that I have done, but I'm quite happy with the look of the trim covered that way.
Try something different, red carbon fiber wrap? A little mix of both. I have Lapis blue with wood interior and going with blue carbon fiber look, I have natural brown though, darker, the beige was always a little to light for me.
