I have been thinking about unloading mine too get a 09 997 because I thought it was vastly superior. Maybe I'll just stick with mine.

i think the reasonable choices would be 996/997.1 or 991 turbo. forget the 997.2 altogether.

Depends on dyno used but Dynojet 650awhp is doable with E85 and stock VTGs and supporting mods. 997.1 is just a better platform in many aspects including drivetrain and motor. PTF is doing big things with it with their custom Cobb tuning on E85 in the tank, bolt ons and stock VTGs. Check the 997 turbo section.

i honestly don't know. but i wouldn't put them in the same league. that would an interesting point. i just think they missed with 997.2 even with 3.8 and I've driven a few. 997.1 is really my favorite as a 991t is out of my reach unless i wanted to pay a cpl g's a month and thats not my thing and i cant write it off lol

They are different. Only commonality is they are both DFI.

your asking a stock VTG tiny turbo to be at 300% efficiency... think about it clearly... thats like Im telling you a stock k16 will do 600 whp?
not bashing anyone but cant fool me Ive been at this way too long... if you throw on 65 or 68 mm compressors on race gas you get low 600s... been there done that... and thats on a dynojet. Now if you do gt2 VTGS and a 68 mm compressor then sure... but thats well over $10K in turbos...

Not sure why so defensive and yes you do seem to be bashing as I've seen this with my own eyes. It was with E85, not pump or race gas. You can't go there with pump gas or race gas.

You mention efficiency. Where and how did you get 300% efficiency from? Are we talking compressor efficiency islands? If yes I'd love to hear your opinion on it when it comes to 997.1 OEM VTGs. - Pete

I'm sorry but I'm fairly new around here and I'm not looking to argue at all so please don't take it the wrong way. I'm genuinly curious though what you meant by 300% efficiency. I also would like to know how many 997.1 E85 tunes you have done and what you got in your dyno tests? There are Mustang dynos flying around with low 600s with E85 and injectors and boltons with stock 997.1 VTGs. Not pump gas or race gas though. We all know on a Dynojet that those would be closer to mid 600 which is what I was talking about. Can you please post an efficency graph for OEM VTGs? I'd really love to see it or anything else technical you can share.

Nothing to buy here and given the comments already made I just wanted some clarification as the comments made to me were a bit off when it comes to tuning with E85 on the 997.1. I don't see Mark pushing E85 much, more pump and race gas, or tuning on the 997.1 VTGs so that explains it to me and I'll leave it there.

For what its worth when someone tells you that you don't know what you're talking about and then throws some numbers at you then it'd be nice to explain it a bit and not just bash my post and then go run away and then have me calling him on the phone?

It is what it is, honestly nothing personal at all, just a bit surprised at the reaction that's all. We're car guys and I thought we could discuss things like this without getting defensive etc. Sorry if I said something I shouldn't have in here once again but I really believe I said nothing wrong or worth defending, just results I've already seen happen out there on a number of cars with OEM VTGs and E85. -Pete
